Texas High edges Lindale, 4-2

LINDALE, Texas—Texas High edged Lindale, 4-2, in eight innings to pick up the second win of the day in the Robbie Surratt Memorial tournament and improve to 7-0 on the season Friday.

Earlier THS defeated All Saints of Tyler, 10-0.

Dakota Turner drove in four RBI on a 3-for-3 game with a double to help Texas High 10-run rule Tyler All Saints on the second day of the Lindale tournament.

Walker Davis improved to 3-0 on the season with a 1-hit shutout for the Tigers. Davis struck out three and walked none.

Rian Cellers was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI for Texas High. Jakob Hearne was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored, and Adam Quinn belted a double.

Against the Eagles, Trevor Toppings pitched seven innings of 1-hit ball, and Logan Arndt tossed a 1-hit eighth inning for the pitching win. Toppings had one strikeout in the game.

Turner belted a 2-run double for the Tigers, Hearne added a double, and Cole Christen had an RBI on a sac fly. Conner Allred scored twice for THS, which plays Atlanta at 1 p.m., and Brookhill at 3:30 p.m. today.

Leopards split

KILGORE, Texas—Liberty-Eylau edged Rusk, 3-2, but fell to Center, 12-0, in the Oil Belt tournament.

Spencer Aldridge picked up the pitching win against Rusk, working six innings. He scattered six hits, gave up two runs—one earned— fanned two and walked four. Tre Hodge pitched a hitless inning for the save.

Cutter Webb and Bryan Moore each had an RBI single for the Leopards, and Blake Carter also had a hit.

The Leopards managed just two hits against the Roughrider­s—singles by Ethan Brooks and Moore.

Pleasant Grove 4, Marshall 1

MARSHALL, Texas—Starter Matthew Gilley and winning reliever Marshall Oubre combined to limit Marshall to one run over eight innings, the Hawks rallying for three in the extra frame for the win.

Down 1-0 in the top of the seventh, the Hawks tied the game on Braden Hlavinka’s single to plate Carson Cox, who doubled to lead off the inning.

In the eighth, Jackson Cobb drove in Tyler Kelley for the eventual winning run. Kelley led PG with three hits, and Seth Hopkins and Hlavinka added a pair of singles each.

Pleasant Grove hosts Marshall (2 p.m.) and Carthage (4:30) today.

Arkansas High 1, Monticello 0

ASHDOWN, Ark.—Arkansas slipped past Monticello in the final frame to win 1-0 Friday night in the first round of the Ashdown Tournament.

Hitting for the Razorbacks was divided by Wren Williams, Matthew Mobley, and Nick Vaughn who had a hit apiece.

Dylan Adcock was the winning pitcher for Arkansas High with 8Ks; Williams played his complement. Adcock increases his record as pitcher to 2-0.

The Razorbacks play the winner of Prairie Grove and Fouke today at 1:00.

Softball

Lady Backs rout Hope

ASHDOWN, Ark.—Arkansas High bested Hope, 21-1, in the Ashdown tournament.

Kaitlyn Fortenberr­y pitched a complete game for the Lady Backs, striking out four and hurling a 2-hitter.

Kailey Burns was 3 for 3 with three doubles to lead the AHS offense, and Fortenberr­y added two doubles and three runs scored. Adison Wright, Shelby Robinson, Bailey Easterling, Alyssa Smith, and Sydnee Blackwell each had multiple hits.

Pleasant Grove 8, Garrison 0

ELYSIAN FIELDS, Texas— Pleasant Grove split a pair of games in the Elysian Fields tournament, blanking Garrison, 8-0, and falling to Gladewater, 12-1.

The Lady Hawks defeated the Lady Bulldogs in 5 innings. Maddie Horn gave up one hit in a sparkling pitching effort for PG.

Offensivel­y the Hawks were led by Hanna Snyder who went 2 for 3 and scored twice, Emily Hilton added a single and two RBI, and Horn also helped herself offensivel­y, going 1-2, scoring a run and driving in two.

The Lady Bears used a 5-run first inning to help make quick work of the Hawks. They scored five more in the third and two in the fourth on their way to the win.

Horn had an RBI single, and Snyder was 1 for 1 with a run scored.

Tennis Hawks compete in 20-team tourney

WILLS POINT, Texas—Pleasant Grove had three teams win two matches and another individual won once in a big tournament at Wills Point.

Clark Giles won twice in boys singles, Gracie Higgins and Abby Hines won two matches in girls doubles and Shannon Lee and Wes Humphrey won twice in mixed doubles for the Hawks. Jisu Choi also won a girls singles match.

PG will host a tournament next week before beginning district play.

THS wins in four divisions

MCKINNEY, Texas—Texas High won four divisions of the McKinney North Pool Play tournament.

Walker Trippe and Griffin Johnson took the boys doubles division for the Tigers, and Alec Rommell won the singles.

On the girls side, Tirzah Bailey and Janie Rounds took the girls doubles, and Reagan Potts and Rhett Young took the mixed doubles division.

Texas High will be back in action at the Centennial Invitation­al in Frisco on March 23.

Soccer

Lady Hawks top Heritage

Katie Hutcheson had a part in both goals as Pleasant Grove beat Heritage in the Arkansas High soccer invitation­al.

Hutcheson scored the second goal with an assist from Sophia Tuttlebee, and Hutcheson assisted Delia Tuttlebee for the initial score.

PG plays Hope at 10:50 a.m. in the AHS tournament.
