The search is on for the first ‘Glam Master’

- By Francis Babin

Let’s get fabulous: The search is on for the next big makeup artist in Lifetime’s eight-episode reality TV hit, “Glam Masters.” YouTube beauty influencers are pit against each other as they try to land a spot in Kim Kardashian West’s famous glam squad in a new episode airing Wednesday, March 7.

Lifetime has partnered with Kardashian for a hot new reality competition. After an open casting call for beauty bloggers, 12 exceptionally talented contestants were selected. In each episode, four beauty influencers compete in a series of complex beauty-themed challenges, with the winner moving forward to the semifinals. The winners will then move on to the Tournament of Masters, with the victor being declared the first ever “Glam Master.”

“Glam Masters” is produced and hosted by “Orange Is the New Black” star Laverne Cox and features beauty experts Mario Dedivanovic, Kandee Johnson and Zanna Roberts Rassi, who serve as judges for the competition.

The three judges bring their own style and expertise to the competition. Dedivanovic, a renowned member of the famed Kardashian-Jenner glam squad, is known for hosting his Master Class makeup tutorials around the globe. Dedivanovic has been by Kim K’s side for nearly a decade, helping her define her iconic look and much-copied image. His in-demand taste and talent have partnered him with Hollywood’s hottest young stars. The makeup master is responsible for creating stunning looks for A-listers such as Sabrina Carpenter, Bebe Rexha and Hailee Steinfeld, making him a perfect fit for “Glam Masters.”

Johnson is best known for being a YouTube makeup expert, racking up nearly four million subscribers and more than a million Instagram fol- lowers. Beyond her powerful social media presence, she is the co-founder of the successful Milk Makeup company. Johnson is a trendsetter and is on the forefront of the digital beauty industry.

The British born style guru Roberts Rassi (“Project Runway All Stars”) is a senior fashion editor at Marie Claire, as well as a fashion correspondent for E! News, and she’s poised to add her valued insight to the judging panel.

Kardashian aims to transform her beauty obsession into a long-running reality TV show with her Midas touch. The media mogul proudly explained in a statement: “I’m such a beauty junkie and am fascinated by how artists are able to transform someone’s look with makeup, and couldn’t be more ecstatic for them to show what they can really do.”

After conquering the television world with “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and its many spinoffs, and the publishing industry with her book of selfies, Kim K quickly took over the tech world with her hugely successful Kimoji app and mobile game. The style icon has now set her sights on the beauty and fashion world. With KKW Beauty dominating the world with its best-selling fragrances, cosmetics and skin-care products, it only makes sense that the entertainment tycoon would develop a glitzy show to showcase her next conquest.

Gas Monkey no more: “The Bearded Wonder” Aaron Kaufman is finally on his own and the future is bright. The former “Fast N’ Loud” star, along with a group of seasoned experts, is building, driving and testing custom cars in the harshest of conditions in the new series “Shifting Gears,” premiering Monday, March 5, on Discovery.

After parting ways with Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage featured in Discovery’s “Fast N’ Loud” in 2016, Kaufman is now out on his own. The master builder’s first act of business as a solo operator was opening his own shop, the Arclight Fabrication in Dallas, Texas, specializing in F-Series trucks.

Kaufman originally vowed to stay away from television, expressing, “Initially when I walked away from ‘Fast N’ Loud’ I was ready to close the door, and having enjoyed that chapter — chapter written, chapter closed — move on to something else.” However, he was eventually persuaded to return to the small screen and showcase his new shop.

As the boss, Kaufman has assembled a veritable A-Team of builders who share the same passion, curiosity and creativity as he does. Josh Freeman, Jonathan Rodriquez, Jason Bowman, Jeremy Webster and Jonathan Mansour have been hand-picked to make the Arclight the best shop in the country. Each of the builders brings a specific skill and expertise to the shop, and relishes the opportunity to test his craftsmanship.

“Shifting Gears” meets with fellow builders and experts, while exploring different types of car culture through custom designs. Kaufman plans to tackle builds and projects that he’s always dreamed of, all while working in spaces he’s never worked in and on vehicles he’s never worked on. For instance, the team plans on transforming an Ultra4 truck into the toughest and baddest model the world has ever seen, and ultimately entering it into the prestigious annual King of the Hammers off-road race that combines rock crawling and high-speed desert racing.

Witness Kauffman and his team of expert builders push the boundaries of vehicle performance and take their creativity and automotive passion to the limit in the new Discovery series “Shifting Gears” premiering Monday, March 5.
