TC adds cellist, flutist, guitarist to faculty,
Texarkana College’s Music Department is adding three adjunct faculty members and a variety of musical instrument lessons to its offerings this fall.
Cellist Brett Andrews will teach lessons on violin, viola, cello and double bass. Flutistpiccoloist Kara Compton will serve as instructor for piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon. Guitarist Benjamin Munson will teach guitar lessons and a group class for beginners.
Marc-André Bougie, associate professor of music at TC and music director and conductor for Texarkana Regional Chorale, said musicians to cements TC’s adding the the faculty position as the regional leader in college-level music education.
“These new additions will provide a fantastic opportunity for growth in our music program, and they will fulfill a long-awaited need for specialized instrumental instruction in our region—especially in the areas of strings and guitar teaching,” Bougie said in a news release.
TC’s music faculty also includes soprano Janice Aiken (voice); trombonist Steve Bennett (trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba); organist Larry Dymott (organ and harpsichord); and percussionist T. Jon Kelly (timpani and all other percussion instruments). Internationally acclaimed pianist Mary Scott Goode teaches piano, piano class and music appreciation courses; and Bougie offers instruction in music theory, ear training, chorale and music appreciation.
TC Music faculty will give a recital at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Stilwell Humanities Building.
