- By Chuck Barney

DON’T MISS: “The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time”— The nutty, low-budget film franchise that dared to imagine the meteorological mayhem that occurs when man-eating sea creatures rain down from the sky is calling it quits. The sixth and final installment picks up right after the conclusion of “Sharknado 5: Global Swarming,” when Fin (Ian Ziering) was seen wandering a decimated Earth while lugging around the head of his bionic wife (Tara Reid). Now he must travel back in time (of course!) to stop the Sharknado that started all the destruction. Our forecast? Utter insanity. (7 p.m. Sunday, Syfy).

Other bets:

SUNDAY: A shocking season of “The Affair” culminates in a finale that has Cole still reeling from recent developments. But expect even more angst because the moody drama was recently renewed for a fifth and final season. (8 p.m., Showtime).

MONDAY: The “2018 MTV Video Music Awards” could be epic. The performers include Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott and more. Lopez also will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. (8 p.m., MTV).

MONDAY: “Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool” delivers more footage from the wildly popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment that aired in June. That’s when James Corden and Paul McCartney visited the former Beatle’s childhood home and surprised locals with a performance at a pub. (7 p.m., CBS).

TUESDAY: “Betty White: First Lady of Television” is a special that has Ryan Reynolds, Valerie Bertinelli, Tina Fey and others paying tribute to the 96-year-old golden girl. Lots of laughs and warm memories are guaranteed. (7 p.m., PBS).

TUESDAY: On the season finale of “Animal Kingdom,” J realizes the danger of balancing his role in the family with his personal ambitions. Meanwhile, Deran wants to take his relationship with Adrian to the next level, but it’s not as easy as he hoped. (8 p.m., TNT).

WEDNESDAY: Anglophiles rejoice: “The Story of the Royals” is a two-night, fourhour special that documents the lives of Britain’s most famous family. It promises to capture “the mystique of the monarchy through its many loves, losses, extravagances, challenges and charms.” (8 p.m., ABC).

WEDNESDAY: Season 2 of “Mr. Mercedes” begins a year after Brady Hartsfield’s thwarted attempt to perpetrate a second mass murder in Ohio. Hartsfield since has been in a vegetative state at a local hospital, where eerie things begin to affect staff members tending to him. (9 p.m., AT&T Audience Network).

THURSDAY: Will things get even crazier in the season finale of the zany courtroom comedy “Trial & Error”? We’re counting on it. (8 p.m., NBC).

FRIDAY: In the new drama series “The Innocents,” June and Harry share traits with plenty of other star-crossed teen lovers. But then she discovers that she can shape-shift. OK, so that’s a little different. (Netflix).

SATURDAY: Mushy movie alert: In “Season for Love,” Autumn Reeser and Marc Blucas play ex-high school sweethearts who reunite in their small hometown during a barbecue competition. We can feel the heat from here. (8 p.m., Hallmark Channel).
