Violet Learlene Smith Black, 96, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Black was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Wilburn, Ark. She was retired from Brown and Miller Pickle Plant and a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Black; one daughter, Annette Cook Porter; and one great-grandson, Daniel Shipley.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Mary Black of Texarkana; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Karen and Steve Shipley of Ozark, Ark.; one great-granddaughter and great-grandson-in-law, Karla and Peter Blahut of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; and two great-great-grandchildren, Emily Heidt and Joey Heidt.
Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Wallace Edgar and Gary Glover officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Relatives will be at the home of Wayne and Mary Black, 5600 Blackman Ferry Road, Texarkana, Ark.
