Vi­o­let Lear­lene Smith Black, 96, of Texarkana, Ark., died Fri­day, Sept. 14, 2018, in a lo­cal nurs­ing home. Mrs. Black was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Wil­burn, Ark. She was re­tired from Brown and Miller Pickle Plant and a mem­ber of Faith Bap­tist Church. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Everett Black; one daugh­ter, An­nette Cook Porter; and one great-grand­son, Daniel Ship­ley.

Sur­vivors in­clude one son and daugh­ter-in-law, Wayne and Mary Black of Texarkana; one grand­daugh­ter and grand­son-in-law, Karen and Steve Ship­ley of Ozark, Ark.; one great-grand­daugh­ter and great-grand­son-in-law, Karla and Peter Blahut of Sar­nia, On­tario, Canada; and two great-great-grand­chil­dren, Emily Heidt and Joey Heidt.

Ser­vices will be 3 p.m. Tues­day at Faith Bap­tist Church with the Revs. Wal­lace Edgar and Gary Glover of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial will be in Har­mony Grove Ceme­tery un­der di­rec­tion of Texarkana Fu­neral Home, Arkansas.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tues­day at the church.

Rel­a­tives will be at the home of Wayne and Mary Black, 5600 Black­man Ferry Road, Texarkana, Ark.
