Police arrested Ardell Brunell and charged him with first degree murder in connection with the death of Crystall Burnell, according to a prepared statement released Sunday by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Ardell Burnell is currently being held in the Lafayette County Jail while the Arkansas State Police continue an ongoing investigation, according to the statement.

Sheriff’s officials said that at about 11:01 p.m. late Saturday night, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s dispatch received a 911 call requesting an ambulance be sent to a residence at 129 Cunningham in Lewisville. Following that initial call, dispatch then received another 911 call requesting that both the ambulance and law officers be sent to a residence a 511 Rose Street in Lewisville.

A third 911 call then came in stating that a female was stretched out in her front yard as a male was spotted walking away from her location.

The caller described the suspect as wearing no shirt, but wearing jogging pants and a do-rag. At that point, Lewisville Police Officer Ryan O’Neal came in contact with Ardell, who fit the suspect’s description. Following further investigation, police took Ardell into custody.
