Lady Backs fall to Lakeside

Arkansas High took a step backward in the volleyball season Thursday.

Lakeside swept AHS on Senior Night at Razorback Gym, 25-5, 25-5, 25-4.

“We have to have more consistenc­y,” Arkansas High head coach Kelsey Jackson said. “We have to have more fight throughout the match.”

After eight consecutiv­e points, Kasey Duncan put the Lady Backs on the board with a kill.

Duncan finished the night with four kills for Arkansas

High.

Maddie Trusty finished the first set with five kills for the Lady Rams. She ended the match with 15 kills, two blocks and eight service points.

The second set began much like the first.

Molly Stineman started on the service line for Lakeside, which trailed the Lady Backs and finished ahead, 10-1.

Stineman contribute­d four service points in the second set. She finished the match with seven service points and three kills.

“We have a lot to build on,” Jackson said. “We have a lot of potential and talent returning for next season, so I’m excited about that.”

The final set played out much like the previous two.

Stinemen started on the service line trailing AHS, 1-0, and ended serving with the Lady Rams ahead, 10-1.

Olivia Lawrence scored six service points in the third set to pace Lakeside to victory.

Lawrence collected 17 service points, three aces and three blocks in the match.

Makenna Ivey finished the night with two service points for the Lady Backs.

Lakeside won both of the junior varsity matches against Arkansas High.
