COACH STEVE WELLS’
COMMENTS: “Traditionally, they’re one of the top programs in the state in Class 4A, Division 1. They played Argyle lights-out. They lost to them, but they had a lot of opportunities to win the game. I think our kids understand that we have to play better and take advantage of the opportunities present themselves.
“It was hard to find an opponent in that Week 6 window, when most teams have started their district play. They were in the same situation as us with a five-team district and having to find a game to play. We were both looking for games, and we decided we would go there first. Next year, they’ll get to enjoy the six-hour trip to play. We’re going to go down and play better this week. Hopefully, we’ll gain a little momentum heading into district play in the next two weeks.”
