Ben Harmon threw four touchdown passes and ran for two more as Pleasant Grove rolled past Pittsburg, 45-20, in a District 6-4A, Division II football game Friday night at Hawk Stadium.
Brett Walker finished with two catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns for Pleasant Grove. Landon Jackson had a 20-yard TD grab, and Jackson Cobb caught a 2-yard score. Harmon scored on runs of 3 yards each.
Tyler Kelley had two interceptions and returned one 35 yards for the Hawks.
Pleasant Grove was down early, 14-0, after the Pirates scored on a pair of touchdown passes. But the Hawks kept their composure and scored 28 unanswered points to take a 28-14 lead late in the second quarter.
Pittsburg tacked on a touchdown before the half but failed to run in the 2-point conversion.
The Hawk defense shut out the Pirates in the second half.
Dillon Williams kicked in a 31-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to give Pleasant Grove a 38-20 edge.
Kamren Woods made an interception to give the Hawks the ball back on the ensuing Pittsburg possession. Walker capped the drive on a 41-yard touchdown reception from Harmon.
Pleasant Grove’s defense stopped the Pirates on a fourth down and took a knee to finish the game.
The Hawks (5-2, 1-0) travel to Gilmer to take on the Buckeyes at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
