Lib­erty-Ey­lau fin­ishes sea­son on a high

GILMER, Texas—Lib­erty-Ey­lau’s Marza­vin Riles four touch­down per­for­mance helped snap a 12-year long drought with Gilmer in their sea­son fi­nale at Jeff Tray­lor Sta­dium.

The Leop­ards de­feated the Buck­eyes in a Dis­trict 6-4A game for play­off seed­ing, 54-42.

Marza­vin Riles scored two touch­downs for the Leop­ards in the first half. Riles’ third and fourth touch­down came on runs over 20 yards.

Riles fin­ished with two grabs for 48 yards and a touch­down. Riles also ended with 18 totes for 154 yards and two touch­downs.

Dar­ryl Bush led Gilmer rush­ing with 16 totes for 98 yards and a TD.

Bran Webb fin­ished with 22 car­ries for 116 yards and a touch­down for the Buck­eyes.

El-Amin Greer and Shan­non Roy col­lected in­ter­cep­tions in the first half for the Lib­erty-Ey­lau de­fense and Lakken Stu­art scooped up a fum­ble re­cov­ery.

Shayne Porche gave the Leop­ards their first lead of the game in third quar­ter, when he caught a 49-yard strike from Isa­iah Cross.

Porche fin­ished with three catches for 65 yards and a touch­down.

Cade Camp com­pleted 15 of 29 passes for 161 yards and a touch­down for the Buck­eyes.

Cross led L-E’s rush­ing with 14 car­ries for 174 yards and a touch­down. He also com­pleted 6 of 10 passes for 127 yards and two touch­downs.

Cedric Dick­er­son ended the game with 13 car­ries for 75 yards for Lib­erty-Ey­lau.
