Paul Pe­witt blanks Queen City

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas—Paul Pe­witt took care of busi­ness as it shut out Queen City, 43-0, in its fi­nal tune-up game on Fri­day night be­fore post­sea­son be­gins.

With the Dis­trict 11-2A, Divi­sion II vic­tory over the win­less Bull­dogs (0-10, 0-7), Paul Pe­witt (8-2, 5-2) will con­tinue its sea­son with a play­off game next week.

The Brah­mas fin­ished with 423 yards rush­ing and run­ning back Deion­tray Hill recorded four touch­downs. Fel­low back D.J. Turner also had a score on a 69-yard run.

Quar­ter­back Cross Holder fin­ished 1-of-2 pass­ing for Paul Pe­witt and found Colby Frost for a 97-yard touch­down.

James Bowie 47, Over­ton 20

SIMMS, Texas—James Bowie run­ning back Ty Watts rushed for 183 yards and three touch­downs to power the Pi­rates to a 47-20 vic­tory over the Over­ton Mus­tangs, clinch­ing the sec­ond play­off seed­ing for the hosts.

James Bowie (6-4 over­all) fin­ishes at 4-1 in Dis­trict 10-2A, Divi­sion II, good enough for sec­ond place be­hind cham­pion Clarksville.

Watts car­ried the ball 13 times, scor­ing on runs of 14, 5 and 65 yards,, all in the first half when the Pi­rates built a 26-6 cush­ion.

James Bowie fin­ished with 436 yards to­tal of­fense, in­clud­ing 377 on the ground.

Gabe Brant­ley scored a pair of touch­downs on runs of 57 and 17 yards. Quar­ter­back Cole Mar­shall also threw for two touch­downs.
