Atlanta’s dominant start enough to pick off Hooks
ATLANTA, Texas— Atlanta jumped out to a big early lead with three touchdowns in the first quarter, and went on to a 54-20 victory over Hooks in a District 7-3A contest Friday night at Rabbit Stadium.
With the victory, Atlanta (5-5) clinches second place in district with a 5-1 record and moves on to the state playoffs next week.
Hooks ends its season with a 4-6 record, including 2-4 is district play.
Atlanta racked up 23 first
downs and had 541 yard total offense.
Jawan King led the Rabbits’ 448 yards rushing attack with 150 yards on just eight carries. Not far behind was Caleb Hamilton with 128 yards on nine attempts.
Hamilton and King also had two touchdowns each.
Quarterback Andrew Samples also had a big night with 78 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He also had 93 yards passing.
Logan Murray, Marquiz Estell and Mason Vasquez had touchdowns for Hooks. Murray’s touchdown came on an 80-yard kickoff return.
