Bobcats tame Scrappers, 53-47

HOPE, Ark.—The Hope Bobcats jumped out to a 22-18 halftime lead and held on for a 53-47 win over the Nashville Scrappers in varsity boys basketball action Friday.

Jaydon Riley led the Bobcats with 18 points. J. Gillam led all scorers with 25, and T. Jamison chipped in 11 points for the Scrappers in the losing effort.

New Boston stays on top

HOOKS, Texas—New Boston’s girls stayed undefeated in District 14-3A play with a 67-29 win over Hooks in varsity basketball action Friday.

The Lady Lions are 3-0 in league play while the Lady Hornets slip to 0-2.

Carlee Ratcliff led the Lady Lions with 17 points and M. Taylor added 12 and Tamiya Smith 10. Lindra Burchette scored 13 points for Hooks.

Both teams return to action Tuesday, with New Boston hosting Queen City and Hooks traveling to Paul Pewitt.

McLeod wins 20th

SIMMS, Texas—Blake Williams poured in 16 points and Trevor Deel 13 to lead McLeod to its 20th victory of the season, a 60-31 win over host James Bowie.

The Longhorns improve to 20-5 overall and 2-0 in 15-2A while the Pirates fall to 0-7, 0-2.

McLeod pulled away in the middle quarters, outscoring the Pirates 39-11 in the two periods.

Mason Furlow led James Bowie with 16 points.

McLeod also won the junior varsity game, 23-19, with Braden Parker scoring nine points for the winners.

James Bowie plays at Maud on Tuesday. McLeod plays next Friday at Clarksvill­e.

Nashville downs Hope

NASHVILLE, Ark.—The Nashville Scrapperet­tes jumped out to a 30-14 halftime lead and coasted to a 56-20 win.

Nashville closed the dead with an 18-2 third-quarter spurt.

Raley Patton paced the winners with 11 points and Lashonne Cooper added 10. Hope got nine points from Ranayja Miller.

McLeod girls beat JB

SIMMS, Texas—McLeod limited James Bowie to only four second-half points as the Lady Longhorns rolled to the District 15-2A win over the Lady Pirates.

Sibbie Comer and Gracie Lance scored 12 points each for McLeod, which outscored the hosts 16-4 in the final two quarters. Khloe Walker scored six points and Gracie Brown five for the Pirates.

Trinity Christian wins

Trinity Christian jumped out to a 19-5 first-quarter lead and went on to post a 66-43 victory over Maud in varsity boys action.

Cason Lamb scored 16 points and Payton Windham 12 for the Cardinals (2-20), who face Hugo, Okla., today.
