Two are promoted at TAPD
The Texarkana, Ark., Police Department recently announced promotions of two officers. Sgt. Scott Megason has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Megason began his career with TAPD in March 1992.
During his years in law enforcement, Lt. Megason has been assigned as an officer and supervisor in the Patrol Division, Services Division, Special Operations Section and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Lt. Megason served as a Field Training Officer, member of the Advisory Board, coordinator for the Explorer Program, as well as the Public Information Officer for the department. Additionally, Lt. Megason serves as a coordinator for the Hostage Negotiation Team for TAPD SWAT team.
He holds a Senior Law Enforcement Certificate and has received numerous letters of accommodation and appreciation, including recipient of the Life Saving Award.
Officer Rick Cockrell has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Cockrell began his law enforcement career with TAPD in July 2010. Sgt. Cockrell served for eight years in the Army.
During his time with the TAPD, Sgt. Cockrell has served in the Patrol Division, as well as time spent assigned as a Housing Authority Officer and Crime suppression under the Special Operations Unit and the Services Division as Intelligence Investigator.
Sgt. Cockrell has served as member of the Honor Guard, Advisory Board and SWAT team.
Sgt. Cockrell holds an Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate and has received numerous letters of commendation and appreciation throughout his tenure. In 2013, he was selected as Officer of the Year.
