Holiday Springs Water

Park, in conjunction with The

American Red Cross, will be

offering Lifeguarding and

Water Park Training beginning in April. Participants must be 15 or older on or before the final scheduled session of the course, and will receive certification valid for two years. Prerequisites include:

■ Being able to swim 300 yards continuously, including 100 yards of front crawl, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 more yards using these two strokes.

■ Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 8 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick and return it to the starting point within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

■ Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, with arms crossed.
