Foundation presents $59,732 in grants to PG teachers, students
Pleasant Grove Independent School District teachers and students were presented with grants totaling $59,732.21 from the PG Education Foundation on Tuesday for technology and new learning materials for their classrooms.
Nineteen grants were given to teachers from pre-K to high school which impacted subjects areas including art, science, pre-K, special education and language arts. Teachers applied for the grants and they were awarded through the PG Education Foundation grant committee.
“We are so fortunate to have incredible community support for the foundation,” Education Foundation President Mark Damron said. “It is through these partnerships that we were able to distribute our record dollar amount of funding to the district and we are very grateful.”
The grants were funded by the PG Education Foundation due to its fundraising throughout the year. The annual fundraisers include the annual donor campaign, Hawk Hustle and Culinary Uncorked. Partnerships have been created with local businesses and individuals with a mutual interest in providing students and teachers with technology and educational resources that will directly benefit the learning and science, technology, engineering, art and math process. Every dollar from the PG Education Foundation goes back into the district, directly serving the goal of providing teachers with the tools they need to provide students with a high quality education.
The PG Education Foundation was founded in 2007 and has awarded more than 120 grants to teachers including more than 300 Chromebooks, 67 document cameras, 60 iPads and 52 interactive wireless tablets. Additionally, it has awarded more than $12,000 in scholarships and a continuous $2,500 college preparation fund for the high school.
