Tigers come from behind to prevail over Lindale

Down to its final out, Texas High rallied against Lindale for a 4-3 win Tuesday at Tiger Field.

Chris Sutton, who was brought in to pitch in the top of the seventh inning, took the win for the Tigers.

Lindale put up three runs in the top of the third inning. Matt Aubuchon eyed a lead off walk. Brandon Burckell doubled setting up the Eagles at second and third with no outs. Chase Rozell singled to score Aubuchan. After a stolen base by Rozell, Cody Pike walked to load the bases. Kam Wheeler singled in Burckell. Mason Hammonds reached

on an error and Rozell scored to give the Eagles the lead 3-0.

The Tigers finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jackson Halter singled to lead off the inning. Cole Jean pinch ran for Halter. Jakob Hearne laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving Jean to second base. Ben Depriest singled to left and scored Jean. Depriest stole second and scored on Luke Smith’s single, cutting the Eagle lead to 3-2.

Sutton came in to pitch the seventh for the Tigers. He picked up two strikeouts, gave up one single and picked up the third out of the inning when Hammonds flied to righfielde­r Connor Allred.

The Tigers took the field down one run in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Chris Lyles singled to center field and a passed ball moved him to second. Jackson Halter singled to left to score the fleet-footed Lyles. Cole Jeans pinch ran for Halter, and another Lindale passed ball moved him to second.

With a 2-0 count on Jakob Hearne, Lindale issued an intentiona­l walk and pulled pitcher Sebastian Coulter. Jacob Philpot took the mound for the Eagles with the score tied 3-3, with two on and two out.

Connor Allen came in to pinch run for Jeans. Ben Depriest was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Tiger head coach John McClure then sent Cam Radney to the plate, pinch hitting for Michael Sikorski.

Radney delivered with a line drive hit to right-centerfiel­d scoring Allen from third. The Tigers’ win moves them to 3-1 in district. Lindale drops to 2-2.

The Tigers next see action at 7 p.m. Friday in Sulphur Springs.
