MARILYN YOUNG

Marilyn Louise Young was born October 21, 1928, to Homer and Florence Lavender. A lifelong resident of Texarkana, she attended Texarkana schools and graduated from Texas High School. She met and married the love of her life, Joncie Young, in 1946 upon his return from the service.

Marilyn was an accomplish­ed pianist and organist and began over four decades of service to Highland Park Baptist Church at the tender age of 14. For over forty years she was the preferred accompanis­t for church and family events throughout Texarkana. She and Joncie worked alongside one another at the family business, Young’s Furniture, until their retirement in 1985. For more than twenty years they were active at First Baptist Texarkana.

She is survived by daughter Brenda Lineberger of Springhill, Tennessee; sons Joncie Young Jr. (Betsy) of Longview, Texas, and Gary Young (Jay) of Dallas, Texas; brother-inlaw Paul Young (Freddie) of Virginia; grandchild­ren Becky (Shaun) Groves, Amy (Brian) Seay, Kathy Lineberger, Jason (Katy) Young, Lauren (Michael) Thompson and Mitchell (Heidi) Young. She was blessed with eighteen adoring great grandchild­ren.

Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and a faithful friend to many in Texarkana. She loved long visits with friends, travel and truly enjoyed her 90 years to the fullest. Marilyn loved God, family and friends and saw only the positives in life and the good in others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation with the family is Wednesday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Texarkana Funeral Home. A celebratio­n of Marilyn’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Online registrati­on is at www.texarkanaf­uneralhome.com.
