Fall movies coming to Spring Lake Park,

TEXARKANA, Texas — This fall’s Movies in the Park series begins Oct. 3 at Spring Lake Park and ends Oct. 24 with the traditiona­l Halloween-season screening of local favorite “The Town That Dreaded Sundown.”

The city Parks and Recreation Department will screen a free movie outdoors in the park each Thursday in October. In addition to the usual four-title series, Parks and Rec will screen a fifth movie Halloween night in conjunctio­n with trunkor-treating at the park.

■ Oct. 3 — “The Secret Life of Pets 2”

PG. 2019. Animated. Voices of Patton Oswalt, Kevin Hart, Harrison Ford. The continuing story of a dog named Max and his pet friends, following their secret lives after their owners leave them for work or school each day.

■ Oct. 10 — “Aladdin”

PG. 2019. Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott. In this live-action remake of the animated Disney classic, a kindhearte­d street urchin and a power-hungry grand

vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.

■ Oct. 17 — “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween”

PG. 2018. Wendi McLendon-Covey, Madison Iseman, Jeremy Ray Taylor. In the second movie adaptation of author R.L. Stine’s scary stories for children, two young friends find a magic book that brings a ventriloqu­ist’s dummy to life.

■ Oct. 24 — “The Town That Dreaded Sundown”

R. 1976. Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine, Dawn Wells. Loosely based on the true story of the Phantom Killer. In 1946, a Texas Ranger hunts for a hooded serial killer terrorizin­g the residents of Texarkana.

■ Oct. 31 — “Toy Story 4” and trunk-or-treating

G. 2019. Animated. Voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts. When a new toy called Forky joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy.
