MARY BURTON MAYFIELD

Mary Burton Mayfield, age 94 of Texarkana, Texas died Saturday, September 14, 2019 in a local assisted living facility.

M s . Mayfield was born October 26, 1924, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was a retired Paralegal and after retirement she became a charter boat captain conducting charters in Port Lavaca, Texas. Also, in retirement she enjoyed traveling the world and playing bridge with her friends.

She was preceded in death by one son Charles McAfee Jr., her parents Douglas and Mable Burton, one brother Thomas Burton and two sisters Evelyn Burton Auck and Pauline Burton Coplin.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-inlaw, Mary Gordon of Texarkana, Texas; and Anna and Don Hensley of Texarkana, Arkansas; one sister Helen Wilson of Austin, Texas; Four grandchildren, Russell Gordon of Clarksville, Tennessee; Buddy Gordon of Texarkana, Texas; Galyn Richardson and husband Ronnie of Fouke, Arkansas; Damon Hensley and wife Stephanie of Princeton, Texas; five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday September 18, 2019 at Woodlawn Cemetery on County Avenue, Texarkana, Arkansas with Randy Thomas officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas.
