Lady Lions outlast Lady Hornets in four sets

HOOKS, Texas — New Boston rallied back to win its district volleyball match against host Hooks, 21-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20, Tuesday.

Grace Duffer served 22 points to lead the Lady Lions.

Lexie Frachiseur led the Lady Hornets with 18 kills, 17 blocks and seven digs, and Emma Farquhar chipped in with 13 kills, 18 digs and 11 points. Alley Jefferson had 22 digs and seven points, Eva Johnson added 15 assists, eight digs and seven points. Alyssa Whitten contribute­d 18 assists and 10 digs, and Abby Russ swatted nine kills, had four blocks and 18 digs.

Hooks won the junior varsity A match, 25-16, 25-11. Lindra Burchette served 13 for the Hornets, and Victoria Burns and Meagan Daniel led the Lions with three apiece.

Hooks also won the jayvee B match, 25-15, 25-20. Kaclyn Nelson led the Hornets with nine points, and Kayahna Harrison led New Boston with seven points.

Lady Dragons clinch playoff berth

REDWATER, Texas — Redwater earned a spot in the postseason on Senior Night.

The Lady Dragons, who honored seniors Crayton Bradford, Bella Fernandez, Ashton Holland, Chloe Turner and Ally Walston prior to the match, defeated DeKalb, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Holland led the team with 16 service points and 16 assists, Fernandez smacked 14 kills, and Walston added 16 digs for Redwater (27-9, 7-3).

The Dragon junior varsity A team won, 25-20, 25-23. Sydney McBride served six for Redwater.

The home team won the jayvee B match, 25-19, 27-25, with Madi Abston serving 11 points.

Redwater travels to Atlanta Friday.

TMS tops Pine Tree

LONGVIEW, Texas — Texas Middle School defeated Pine Tree in the eighth grade B game, 22-20.

Timothy Austin scored on a 65 yard run for the Tigers and teammate Jeremiah Cox dashed 25 yards for a score.

Laquell Chatman caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Ross for the TMS.

Ross also tossed a 2-point conversion to Aiden Moore for the Tigers, while teammate Isreal Castanada scored a 2-point conversion in the contest.

TCS throttles Umpire

UMPIRE, Ark. — Trinity Christian School defeated Umpire in its varsity boys season opener, 76-34.

Alex Cobb led the Warriors with 30 points and six rebounds, while teammate Griffin Brocato added 12 points with nine rebounds.

TCS beat Umpire in the varsity girls game, 32-30.

Landi Williamson led the Lady Warriors with 14 points and 12 rebounds, whilte teammate Lani Lindsey snatched 11 rebounds with four points.
