- By Karl Richter INGRAM

TEXARKANA, Texas — Local commercial real estate agent Mike Ingram is a candidate for the Ward 6 seat on the City Council, he announced Wednesday.

Ingram filed Tuesday to appear on the ballot in a special election to replace outgoing Ward 6 Council Member Josh Davis, who has resigned to run for Bowie County tax assessor-collector. The election will take place Jan. 28, 2020.

A native Texarkanian, Ingram attended Texarkana College and the University of Texas at Arlington.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, first buying and selling stores for E-Z Mart Corp. and now selling commercial real estate for NAI American Realty, according to a statement.

Ingram is president of Harvest Regional Food Bank and serves on the Four States Fair board of directors. He is a past president of CHRISTUS St. Michael Friends of the Foundation and past president of the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller

Counties.

“Mike has strong love for this community and he will focus on the needs of Ward 6. However, Mike’s concerns go beyond Ward 6 with his commitment to work with the Mayor and other council members for the betterment of all of Texarkana. …

“Mike’s experience in real estate gives him an in-depth knowledge of economic growth potential, which Texarkana is in dire need of,” according to the statement.

Ingram’s father, Bob Ingram, was Texas High School band director for 30 years, and his mother was an elementary school art teacher. He and his wife, Sylvia, have two daughters and a son-in-law.

Ingram joins banker Jay Davis in the race. Davis announced his candidacy Monday.

Those who wish to file as candidates can pick up an information packet in the city secretary’s office. The filing deadline is Dec. 19.

Candidates for City Council must be U.S. citizens and registered voters who have lived in Texas for a year and in the ward they want to represent for six months.
