ROBERT CARROLL
Robert David Carroll, 70 of Wake Village, TX died Thursday, November 21, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born May 6, 1949 in Natchitoches, LA to Finley and Alma Bounds Carroll. He was a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He was a telecommunications engineer with BB Comm and AT & T. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Eylau United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.
He is lovingly remembered by his family as a prankster who never missed an opportunity to get one over on someone! He knew how to have a good time and took many opportunities to ski the Cane River with his family or just float down it on a barge while having a crawfish boil. He was a great cook who taught his children many of his “secrets” of being the best cook. He absolutely loved listening to Conway Twitty and he always enjoyed Louisiana politics. He was a die-hard LSU fan and an avid duck hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors. His family recalls an incident in which he actually wrestled a bear with his blood brother Dee Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Carroll and his granddaughter Kayden Chadwick.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 19 years Carla Carroll; his children Ashley Chadwick and husband Brent, Jenna Peace and husband Tyler, Ryan Satterfield and his girlfriend Lexie Mills; grandchildren Aubrey Jo Peace, Taylor Smith, Austin Smith, Justin Smith, and Brylee Chadwick; three sisters, Martha Lou Carroll, Joycelyn Carroll and Mary Landry; his mother-in-law Freida Bettes; and a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Ducroz officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
