Sixth COVID-19 death reported in Bowie County

Local officials on Monday reported one new death from COVID-19 in Bowie County, Texas, bringing the total number to six.

To protect coronaviru­s patients’ privacy, the Bowie/ Cass County emergency Joint Operations Center does not provide any identifyin­g details about them, including those who have died.

The JOC reported 83 confirmed positive tests for the virus in Bowie County on Monday, up from 76 reported Friday. Cass County’s case count remained at 13.

In Northeast Texas, Little River County remained at one case reported, while Morris County added one to reach five and Titus County’s tally rose from eight to nine, according to state health department data.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County’s case count increased by one over the weekend, from 29 to 30. Howard County’s rose from 12 to 14, Sevier County’s from eight to nine and Hempstead County’s from four to five.

Pike County held at two cases, Nevada County at one and Little River County at zero.

Lafayette County’s count decreased from five to four. The Arkansas Department of Health did not provide an explanatio­n, but the change could be due to an initial false-positive test or attributin­g a patient to the wrong

county earlier.

Caddo Parish, Louisiana, reported 56 new cases for a total of 1,276.

Bossier Parish’s count increased from 230 to 233.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 1,853 cases Monday, with 41 related deaths. Texas reported 24,523 cases with 495 deaths and Louisiana reported 24,523 cases with 1,328 deaths.

At the national level, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 746,625 cases with 39,083 deaths.
