Titus County cases on rise

U.S. death toll passes 70,000

Titus County, Texas, has seen an increase of eight confirmed coronaviru­s cases in two days, according to Texas Department of State Health Services Data.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, Titus County’s case count rose from 21 to 23. It was 15 on Monday.

Bowie County, Texas, added one case Wednesday to reach 105, according to the Bowie County/ Cass County Joint Operations Center. Ten Bowie County patients have died because of COVID-19, and 68 have recovered.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Cass County held at 19 cases with 13 recoveries, Morris County at nine cases and Red River County at one, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Sevier County added a case to reach 14, but other counties’ tallies did not change, according to the Arkansas Health Department. Miller County’s count remained at 35, Howard County’s at 14, Hempstead County’s at seven, Lafayette County’s at eight, Pike County’s at three, Nevada County’s at two and Little River County’s at zero.

A networking problem delayed reporting of new Louisiana case counts Wednesday, the Louisiana Department of Health stated on its website. On Tuesday, Caddo Parish reported 1,639 cases and Bossier Parish 300 cases.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 3,527 cases with 83 deaths because of COVID-19 on Wednesday, and Texas reported 34,422 cases with 948 deaths. On Tuesday, Louisiana reported 29,996 cases with 2,042 deaths.

The national COVID-19 death toll topped 70,000 for the first time Wednesday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC reported 1,193,813 cases with 70,802 deaths.
