IRA EDMONDSON

Ira Junior Edmondson (age 94) of Texarkana, AR, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 24, 2020.

Ira was born on July 8, 1926 in Houston, Arkansas, the only child of Ira Thomas Edmondson and Susie Powell Edmondson. He proudly served in the U. S. Army’s 42nd Infantry (Rainbow) Division, during WWII. He was a long time business owner and resident of Texarkana. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Iva Mae Edmondson, and his companion of 17 years, Narene Pope.

He is survived by his three children: Joyce Wilson (TJ) of Perryville, AR, Janis Roberts (Kip) of Texarkana, TX, and Jerry Edmondson (Janet) of New Braunfels, TX; his grandchild­ren, Kelly Wilson, Chris Roberts, Allison Holliman (Johnathon), Thomas Edmondson, and Michael Edmondson; and great grandchild­ren; Cassidy Edmondson, and Morgan, Mason and Madelyn Holliman; and honorary granddaugh­ter, Kaitlin Sherman.

A graveside visitation will be held at Memorial Garden Cemetery, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2020, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Downtown First Baptist Church in Texarkana or to a charity of your choice. The family is especially grateful to the nurses and staff of the Perry County Nursing & Rehab Center for his excellent care in the last year of his life.
