Vernon M. Drennon, Jr., of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at a local care facility. He was 80. Vernon was born April 8, 1940 in Gilmer, Texas to Rev. Vernon and Evelyn Drennon. In 1958 he graduated from Hooks Hugh School, but spent most of his adult life living in De Kalb, Texas, where he owned a poultry farm and also raised cattle. He attended Austin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas until he retired and moved to Hooks, Texas where he attended the First Baptist Church of Hooks. Vernon was a hard-working , honorable, Christian man who was very much loved by his family, and he will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Michael Drennan, Jr.; one sister, Patsy Forrester; and one nephew, Jimmy Drennan.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Griffith Drennon of Texarkana, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Erica Drennan and David and Stacy Drennon; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sherri and Phillip Quintero and Kerri Drennon; two stepdaught­ers, Sheila Griffith and her husband, Brian, and Carrie Phillips; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Franca Drennon; thirteen grandchild­ren; twelve great grandchild­ren; one greatgreat grandchild; and numerous other nieces, nephews relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Texarkana with Rev. Roy Ford officiatin­g.

Mr. Drennon will lie in state from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
