Johnny Rogers Johnson, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at a local care facility. He was 73. Johnny was born November 1, 1946 in De Kalb, Texas to Frank and Nettie Mae Murphy Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a retired heavy equipment mechanic for Red River Army Depot. Johnny was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas where he served as a Deacon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Lanny Johnson, Mack Johnson, Clevern Johnson, James Johnson, and Anoise Smith; one sister, Glendell White; and one grandson, Brandel Williams.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Johnson of De Kalb, Texas; one son and daughterin-law, Jeffery and Kimberly Johnson of North Prince George, Virginia; one stepdaught­er, Terri Williams of De Kalb, Texas; his former wife and mother of his children, Lannie Johnson; ten grandchild­ren, Jeffery Williams, Jr., Jordan Williams, Javon Williams, Amber Johnson, Andrea Wherry, A’Farrius Jones, Aniyah Johnson, Britnee Williams, and Breia Williams; six great grandchild­ren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Kenneth Hill officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Hooks Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

Mr. Johnson will lie in state Monday, August 3, 2020 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Family will be present from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
