ALMA STARKS

-

Alma Ree Jordan Starks was born November 12, 1934. On Thursday, July 30, 2020, Alma returned home to the Lord after 85 beautiful years of long life.

United in marriage to Thomas James Starks October 28, 1955 for 64 years. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. Oh how she loved worshiping and praising God all day long; her five kids would be right with her because she would be dragging them along. We are so glad she did, because today her God is our God; that is the best gift any mother can give her children; the everlasting love of Jesus Christ. She loved and adored her family and helping her neighbors, whether taking them to the store or giving them a lift to Sunday School and church.

Alma had a wonderful wit about her, she kept us laughing. Once she started laughing it was hard to stop her. She was a sharp dresser; she LOVED her hats and sharp hairdos! Can’t you just see her now strutting across the way. When she smiled she would light up the room. She was a very hard worker, experienced in various jobs including, maid and office assistant for ENT doctor.

Talk about cooking a pot of pinto beans, the kind with the thick liquor. Add a skillet of mouth-watering corn bread; crumble it up in the beans! Lets not even talk about the desserts. She makes a mean peach cobbler, the thick crust kind that looks up at you smiling, saying come sink your teeth in.

Mrs. Starks was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Alice Jordan and Emma Carr. She leaves to hold and cherish her memories a loving husband and father, Thomas Starks; five children, Rev. Anretha (Donald Sr.) Walker, Ogden AR; Allean Starks, Texarkana, AR; Andrew (Bessie) Starks, Ashdown, AR; Renoldo (Roseland) Starks, Prairieville, LA; Rev. Tamala (Rev. Dr. Stevey Sr.)Wilburn, Jackson, TN. Three brothers, DeRoy (Gracie) Jordan, Texarkana AR; Iley Jordan, Sacramento, CA; Thomas Jordan, Ashdown, AR; two sisters, Bernice Jordan, Idabel, OK; Annie Ruth Oakes, Muskogee OK; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
