Art entries needed for hospital calendar fundraiser

- By Lori Dunn

The group Circle of Friends is creating a calendar to benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital and is looking for submitted artwork by current or former patients.

“This is our first year for a calendar. COVID hit everyone hard this year and we have been looking for ways to raise money that does not involve direct contact,” said Linda Willis, secretary for Texarkana USA Circle of Friends.

The deadline to submit artwork is Friday.

There are 11 chapters of COF across the state of Arkansas that raise money for Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

One winner will be chosen from each local group and the winners will be pages on the 2021 calendar, Willis said. Anyone entering must be an Arkansas resident 18 or under who is a current or former patient of Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Artists may submit multiple pieces of art. Selected artwork will be featured in the 2021 Circle of Friends calendar. The artwork should be 11 by 8.5 inches and horizontal. Artwork can be any medium and can include monthly themes and holidays in the designs.

A photo of each entry should be emailed to neelyrl@archildrens.org or linda.willis5155@gmail.com.

If your artwork is chosen to be featured in the calendar, you will be asked to mail in the original art and email a photo of the artist and a signed release document. All artwork submitted becomes the property of Arkansas Children’s and may or may not be returned.

The calendars will be sold online and mailed directly from the hospital.

Volunteers are always needed for COF.

“We have a lot of support, but we desperately need volunteers,” Willis said.
