Marie Magdalene (Hernandez) Alvarez, July 22, 1935-October 10, 2020.

Marie M. Alvarez, 85, of Hope, AR, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

She was in born Gary, Indiana, and moved to Hope in 1979. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jose Hernandez and Juana Martinez, her beloved brother; Rudolph, her sisters; Consuelo Zaragoza and Reynalda Ruiz, five other siblings and her son Edilberto Martinez Jr.

She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, being baptized in 1979. She was a very loving Mother, Tia (Aunt), Grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, “Boss” and mother-in-law.

Marie worked and retired from the Hope Migrant Farm Labor Center after 37 years.

She is survived by her five children, daughter Rachel Shuster & son-in-law Raymond of Hope, AR, sons, Rudolph Rodriguez of Crown Point, IN, Reneldo Rodriguez of Pahala, HI, Julian Alvarez & daughterCo­nstance of Hope, Juanita Crayne & son-in-law Brad of Texarkana, TX, and a very special nephew and niece, Mario Blanco of Hobart, IN, and Rosalinda Ramirez of Grand Rapids, MI, and a special son Phillip Russell & his wife Kelly of Hope, AR; her grandchild­ren, Steven Shuster, Alex and Gena Rodriguez, Ronin Alvarez, Ryker Alvarez, Laith (Raegan) Zimmer, Emily and Zoey Zimmer and Ayson Ellis, and three step-grandchild­ren.

Her great-grandchild­ren, Haley and Damon Rodriguez, Natalie Shuster, Madison Zimmer and two forthcomin­g twin boys. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
