Lady Hawks fly over Paris

TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove put the finishing touches on its District 15-4A schedule with a victory over Paris Friday in Hawk Gym.

The Lady Hawks (17-5) finish as the league runner-up to champion Gilmer (20-4).

Pleasant Grove opens the bi-district playoffs against Longview Spring Hill at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pittsburg High School’s gymnasium.

Gilmer is ranked 14th and Pleasant Grove 24th in the Texas Girls Coaches Associatio­n state poll.

The Hawks defeated Paris in five sets, 25-22, 23-25, 14-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Pleasant Grove leaders were: Adi Koller (13 points, 15 digs), Katie Ferguson (nine kills, 14 assists), Macy Young (15 set assists), Lexi Snyder (21 digs), Ella Nichols (19 digs) and Hallie Lipham (eight kills).

The Hawks won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-15. Whitney Thornton served eight points for the winners.

Lady Lions win in three

DEKALB, Texas — New Boston, the District 14-3A champion, kept its league record umblemishe­d with a three-set victory over DeKalb.

The Lady Lions (17-2, 13-0) won, 25-21, 25-15,, 25-16. New Boston is ranked 23rd in the Class 3A state poll by the Texas Girls Coaches Associatio­n.

MaKaila Daniels had seven serving points for the Bears, Emily Barrett had nine kills, Gracie Crain nine assists and Hanna Mullins had four digs.

Hooks downs Bulldogs

HOOKS, Texas — Hooks defeated Queen City in a five-set match, 25-21, 13-25, 16-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Freshman libero Serenity Oden led the Bulldogs with 20 service points (six aces) and 18 digs. Chyna Stiger finished with nine points, six kills and 26 digs. Claire Bates added eight kills, three blocks and six digs.

Alex Larry had six kills and nine digs for the Bulldogs, Mallori Stringer had 11 assists, setter Rylie Pattillo helped out with eight assists. Lauren Carrell contribute­d six aces and five kills.
