Wake Village City Council

-

ZANDRA JONES 1. What are your top priorities if elected into office and how do you plan to address them?

My top priority is always to govern myself with values and if elected, focus on serving my community. I will accomplish this by getting to know more of the residents of our city by getting out into the community and work with my colleagues on the city council to maintain our economic growth.

2. What do you plan to do to serve the people of Wake Village and make sure their voices are heard?

As a pastor’s wife and foster parent, I have been challenged in and understand the needs of people in the community. I will use my knowledge and ability to listen to their concerns about our city, organize people with common interest and appropriately address those concerns which effect out city and make it a better place to raise a family.

3. What is the biggest challenge the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to Wake Village and how do you plan to

address it?

Much have changed in Wake Village, surrounding communities, the state and our nation with the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. It has effected every aspect of our lives and may do so for some time. The biggest challenge of this pandemic is reducing the spread especially to those of high risk. I have a school age child with pre-existing conditions and I have already address the COVID with him and others. I will stress the importance of following the guidelines established by state recommendation, wear mask, wash hands and maintain social distance.

4. What are your thoughts about the city’s finances and what program(s) would you like to see added or done away with?

When considering the city’s finances and budget, the question or concern is what is the impact of corona virus? I believe no addition or cuts should be made at this time but review must be made periodically to assess impact. We must focus on maintaining our current staff with priority on our police and fire department.

5. Under what circumstances, if any, would you consider raising taxes?

As a resident, I do not see any reason to raise taxes but this may change base on the results of budget reviews.
