Rabbs Thump New Boston

NEW BOSTON, Texas — Atlanta’s Caleb Hamilton scored three touchdowns to ignite the Rabbits to a 40-20 District 6-3A victory over New Boston Friday night on the Lions’ home field.

Hamilton scored two of his touchdowns in the first half on runs of 9 and 22 yards. His final TD came on a 32-yard scamper in the final quarter.

The Rabbs (2-7, 2-3) jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back, although New Boston (1-5, 0-4) closed within 27-20 in the third quarter.

Atlanta’s first score came on a 32-yard run by Keith Kinney in the first quarter. Hamilton followed with his 9-yard touchdown and Kameron Dickerson bolted lose on a 34-yard TD run to make it 21-0. Daniel Hernandez kicked all three PATs.

Kevon Thompson scored a 1-yard plunge and a 35-yard run to pull the Lions within 20-12 in the second stanza.

New Boston scored first in the third period on quarterbac­k Kyle Atkinson’s 20-yard scoring strike to Brian Reid. Angel Recendez ran for a 2-point conversion, closing to gap to 27-20. But Atlanta’s defense tightened and shut down the Lions the rest of the game.

Keith Kinney scored on a 3-yard run in the third quarter and the extra-point kick failed, leaving the score 33-20.

Hamilton’s third score of the night sealed the victory.

Daingerfie­ld 49, Paul Pewitt 17

DAINGERFIE­LD, Texas — Daingerfie­ld put itself into the driver’s seat of District 10-3A, D-II with a victory over Paul Pewitt.

The Brahmas (4-3, 3-1) were shut out in the second half. Deiontray Hill led Paul Pewitt in rushing with 78 yards on 19 carries.

Hayden Green scored the first touchdown for the Brahmas on a 5-yard run in the first quarter. Tavion Brown scored in the first on a 5-yard run for Paul Pewitt.

Dalton Vissering booted in a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter for the Brahmas. He was also 2 for 2 on extrapoint kicks.

The Tigers are 7-1 and 4-0 in District

10-3A.

Maud 30, Quinlan Boles 6

QUINLAN, Texas — Cason Lamb had three touchdowns runs as Maud rolled past Quinlan Boles, 30-6, in a District 9-2A, D-II varsity football game.

Lamb threw a 2-point conversion pass to Tucker Sanders and ran in a conversion. Sanders had a 2-point conversion run for the Cardinals. Lamb’s touchdown runs came from 2, 7 and a yard out.

Sanders rushed for 143 yards on 24 totes to lead all rushers and had a 6-yard TD run.

Maud outgained the Hornets in offensive yardage, 221-132.

Four area teams win

Hooks continued its winning ways as the Hornets stung DeKalb, 28-7, in a district on the Bears’ home field.

Three other Northeast Texas continued their winning ways, too. Hughes Springs thumped Queen City, 44-13, James Bowie trimmed Detroit, 30-24, and LindenKild­are mauled Big Sandy, 56-0.

Only Redwater was on the losing end as the Dragons dropped a hard-fought 31-28 decision to host Prairiland.
