MONDAY HORACE COKER

Horace M. Coker, age 95, of Fouke, Arkansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Coker was born December 18, 1924 in Fouke, Arkansas. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a loving, kind and gentle man who always put the needs of his family first. His most important part of life was spending time with his family creating memories. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Jo Coker, a granddaugh­ter, Stephanie Crabtree, an infant son, Nickey Wayne Coker, his parents Asa and Amy Coker and numerous siblings.

He is survived by two daughters and one son in-law, Lynn Renee Burns of Texarkana, Arkansas, Sheila and Michael Landis of Fouke, Arkansas; one sister, Onzell Dodson of Fouke, Arkansas; one sister in-law, Geneva Coker of Fouke, Arkansas; five grandchild­ren, Travis and Chelcie Burns, Adrian Landis, Andy and Kadi Burns, Julie and Daniel Jr. Carnley and Connor Landis; seven great grandchild­ren and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 11am at Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Holt officiatin­g. Burial will be at Independen­ce Cemetery under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm.

MARTHA GEORGE

Martha Anne George, age 78 of Texarkana, AR passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. On July 23, 1942, Mrs. George (Anne) was born to her parents : William C. & Drotha E. McClure in Lafayette Co. AR. Over the years, she managed a variety of businesses, however, she took particular joy in working with her clients in Supervised Living at Opportunit­ies, Inc. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John E. George along with her parents, 4 brothers & 2 sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Theresa Endsley, Ketha Jones (Sandy), Travis George, Kathleen Hickson, Julie Matson all of Texarkana, AR & Johnece Tellez (Scott) of Denton, TX. one Sister: Rovine Hickson of Genoa, AR, 3 Grandchild­ren: Amy Bryant (Byron) Autumn Nottingham (Jason), Bud Jones (Mary), 3 Great Grandchild­ren: Braylee & Skyler Bryant & Nash Nottingham, her best friend: Helen Swint along with a host of nieces, nephews & cousins. Mom was a special lady who touched many lives. We take comfort knowing she is with Jesus and her Family.

Funeral services will be on Dec 9, 2020 at 2pm at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas Side. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery, Genoa, AR.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm, Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.

TUESDAY RYAN DAKODA “BUBBA” BROWN

Ryan Dakoda “Bubba” Brown, age 26, of Doddridge, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 4, 2020 in a Houston, Texas hospital surrounded by his family.

Ryan was born October 17, 1994 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a member of Ida Baptist Church in Ida, Louisiana. He enjoyed gunsmithin­g and playing video games. Ryan was very creative and his passion was working with his hands any chance he got.

He is survived by his father and mother, Lance and Sheila Brown, of Doddridge, Arkansas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Katelyn and Chris Koehn of Doddridge, Arkansas, Ashlea and David Rowton of Waldo, Arkansas; three nephews Koby O’Neal, Riley O’Neal, Jensen Rowton; one niece, Evelynn Rowton and a host of friends and other relatives.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Union Grove Cemetery in Doddridge, Arkansas with Rev. Brian Hevrin officiatin­g. Burial will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening.

BARBARA SULLIVAN

Barbara Sue Sullivan, age 77, of Texarkana, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Sullivan was born February 13, 1943 in Texarkana, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Texarkana. She was retired Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Bowie County. She was a member of First Baptist Church Texarkana. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, sister and a true friend. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to such places as Yankee Stadium, Canada, Mexico, and many other points of interest in the United States. Barbara was well known for her love of animals and her rescue of many abandoned dogs and cats. She is preceded in death by her father Forrest Birtcher, Sr. and mother Urmadene Birtcher; two brothers, Richard and Forrest Birtcher, Jr.; one sister, Bettie Asher; and one great-granddaugh­ter Kylee Sullivan.

She is survived by her devoted husband of forty-four years, Jewel Sullivan of Texarkana, Texas, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joey and Judy Sullivan of Texarkana, Texas; Jackie Sullivan of Wake Village, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Belinda and Ernest Keck of Texarkana; four grandchild­ren, Dustin Sullivan and his wife Jen of Texarkana, Arkansas; Josh Sullivan of Nashville, Arkansas; Jennifer Bolton and her husband Nathan of Fouke, Arkansas; Amber Mason and her husband Coy of Genoa, Arkansas; eight great-grandchild­ren, Madi Bennett, Layton Sullivan, Kinleigh Sullivan, Lydia Hirzel, John Luke Hirzel, Dakota Hirzel, Gentry Mason and Drew Mason; a special niece, Holly Giles; a special nephew, Brett Shoptaw; cousin, James and his wife Karen Taylor and a host of friends and other relatives.

The family would like to send a sincere thank you to Encompass Hospice nurses for the love and care they gave Mrs. Barbara during her illness.

DARRELL ADAMS

Darrell Ray Adams, age 82, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in his home.

Mr. Adams was born on January 27, 1938 in New Boston, Texas to his parents Arnold and Delia Adams. He was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Margaret Adams; and one brother Buck Adams.

Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Keith and daughter-in-law Nita Adams of Texarkana, Texas, Scott Adams of Texarkana, Texas, Brad and daughter-in-law Ramona Adams of Simms,

Texas; one daughter, Tina Allen of Texarkana, Texas; five grandchild­ren, Jeff Adams, Corey Adams, Cody and wife Schaley Allen, Jordan Adams, and Joshua Adams; one great grandchild, Trey Adams.

Memorial Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, December 12, 2020 at Chapelwood Cemetery with Dr. Dwight Lowrie officiatin­g.

CHRISTOPHE­R ELKINS

Christophe­r (Chris) Charlie Elkins passed away peacefully and marched triumphant­ly into heaven on December 9, 2020.

He was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on February 7, 1929 to parents Alice Velva Elkins and Charlie Jo s eph Elkins as the fourth of nine children: four girls and five boys. Chris attended North Heights High School graduating in 1947. After listening to “Faraway Places with Strange Sounding Names” by Bing Crosby, wanting to travel to the places “Calling, Calling Me,” he enlisted in the Army to see the world. He served in Korea with the 5th Regimental Combat Team during the war. Awarded Army Occupation Medal (Korea), Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Campaign Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the UN Service Medal. After discharge, he attended Texarkana College for two years and then four years at the Lyle School of Engineerin­g at SMU under their mechanical engineerin­g co-op program. He was employed by Day and Zimmerman for 38 years with extensive traveling overseas, fulfilling his life’s dream of seeing the world. A sports lover, he rooted for the Razorbacks, Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks from his recliner. When his teams weren’t playing, Chris enjoyed working the daily crossword with a cup of coffee. He was also an active member of the Republican Party of Miller County, serving as chairman for many years, and spent countless hours volunteeri­ng in the office. He loved his 1994 blue Chevrolet Silverado, which is still in the Elkins Family.

Chris married Katy Ellen Tollett in 1954. He was blessed to be “dad” to four children, Christia Kay Bolling (Jay), Tamara Leigh Elkins, Douglas Rhea Elkins (Patricia), and Kenneth Joel Elkins and “Pops” to five grandchild­ren: Sean Elkins (Erinne), Christophe­r Elkins (Caitlin), Alexandria Elkins, Chloe Elkins, and JP Bolling (Mary); and two great-grandchild­ren: Anabelle and Bruce Bolling. He was a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church for 50 years having served in various positions, including Deacon, Sunday School Department Director, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Softball Coach, and recently security team. When his friends brought him the Sunday school offerings in the Records Room, they made sure to bring him offerings of donuts and coffee too. He found joy as a member of the Joytime Singers, ministerin­g to those in retirement and assisted living homes.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Jerry, and one sister Ella Francis. He is survived by two brothers, Lowell and Carlton, and three sisters, Laverne, Annette, and Doris.

A private family service will be held, Saturday at 10am. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
