TAMMY ANN (SEPULVADO) MORTON

October 27, 1960 – December 6, 2020

Tammy Ann (Sepulvado) Morton, born October 27, 1960 in Ruston LA, passed from this life on December 6, 2020 at Chr istus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana TX. She was 60 years old.

Tammy is preceded in death by her father Frank Leonard Sepulvado. She is survived by her mother Oma Jean (Jones) Sepulvado of Marshall TX; daughters Amanda Ann Sepulvado of Shreveport LA, Lacey Farrington and husband Matthew of Hooks TX, and Melinda Rochelle Francis of New Diana TX; sisters Paula Lee Matters and husband Tom of Dallas TX, and Amy Ellis and husband James of Marshall TX; grandchild­ren Hunter King, Tia King, Victoria Foster, Jonathan Foster, Peighton Telano, Preston Telano, Julianna Foster, and Benjamin Farrington; and great-grandchild­ren Kylo King and Keanu King.

Tammy dearly loved her family, especially her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She is remembered as a hilarious woman and was always the life of the party. She had a huge, generous heart and a passion for helping people and animals alike. She adored her fur babies Annabelle and Little Bit. Tammy will be deeply missed by those whose life she has touched.

An indoor/outdoor celebratio­n of life gathering will be held in Tammy’s honor on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 2pm to 5pm at her mother’s home located at 466 Bailey Cutoff Road in Marshall TX.

Steven James Ramsey, 63, of Nacogdoche­s, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He will always be remem - bered as a beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, friend, and servant of the Lord.

Steve was born on December 23, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, December 14, at Grace Covenant Presbyteri­an Church, 340 N.E. Stallings Dr., in Nacogdoche­s. Interment will follow at Blackjack Cemetery.

GARY PICKETT

Gary Pickett age 66, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 11, 2020, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital.

Gary was born December 13, 1953, in San Diego, California to Edward and Dollie Grace Pickett. He was a Maintenanc­e Forman at Domtar for 28 Years; and was a member of Gideon’s Internatio­nal. Gary spent many hours working for the Lord and being faithful to church. He was a member and deacon at Cathedral Heights Church of the Nazarene in Texarkana, Ar. Gary loved to fish and had a special fishing buddy Ron Upshaw.

Survived by: wife, Kay Pickett of Texarkana Arkansas; sons: Kerry Pickett and Diane Hargrave of Texarkana, Texas, Russell Pickett and Amanda Weatherfor­d of Fouke, Ar; grandchild­ren, Madelyn Adams of Bentonvill­e, Arkansas, Endsley Pickett of Longview, Texas, Ilea Pickett of Longview, Texas, Bentley Pickett of Fouke, Arkansas; brother and sister in law, Larry and Reika Endsley of Bloomburg, Texas; and a number of other relatives

Mary Katherine McElhaney, 79, of Queen City, TX passed away December 11, 2020 in a local nursing home. Mrs. McElhaney was born October 25, 1941 in Noble, OK. She was a member of First United Methodist Church , Atlanta, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Duncan McElhaney.

DANNY TURNER

Danny Ray Turner, age 70, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born July 25, 1950 to AZ and Va ldean Cobb Turner.

Danny was a Vietnam Veteran , logging contractor and babys itter of grandchild­ren, which he loved doing so that he could “Coach” them in things they needed to know about life and everyday living. Danny also loved to fish, hunt, and tell a “Short Story” every now and then.

He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Dennis Turner.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Knoll Turner; one son, Paul Turner of Dallas, Texas and his children, Trae, Austin and Hayden; his daughter, Jennifer Anderson and husband Kirk of Gulf Breeze, Florida and their children, Will, Rachel and Georgia; daughter, Amy Knoll and her children, Jace and Sadie of Hope, Arkansas; one brother, Terry Turner and wife Rita of Hope and their children Mandy and Jeff; two sisters in law, Tina Turner and Kathy Davis; brother in law, Mike Sinyard and wife Kit of Lebanon, Tennessee and a host of family members he stayed in close contact with.

Mary Florence Jackson, 71, of Texarkana died on December 4, 2020 in Dallas. She was born on August 29,1949 in Texarkana, AR. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ben Lomond, AR.

She was a member of UDC, DAR, Colonial Dames and War of 1812. She was also a member of the Little River Genealogy Society, Little River Historical Society where she served as a Trustee and Ashdown Alumni Associatio­n. Her hobbies included playing the piano and genealogic­al research.

Preceded in death by her parents Joel Mills Jr. and Bernice Crawford Mills; two brothers John Thomas Mills and Joel “Buddy” Mills III.

She was survived by her husband Jack Jackson of Texarkana; two sistersDon­na Mills of Ashdown, AR., Cindy Mills of Ben Lomond, AR. and one brother and sister-in-law Sonny and Brenda Dodson of Texarkana. MAGGIE LOVEN

Maggie L. Loven, age 88, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 5, 2020, in an Atlanta, Texas hospital.

Magg ie was born, September 15, 1932, in Mexia, Texas, to Calvin and Rosa Lee Piearce. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Queen City and worked as a bank teller for over 10 years at Atlanta National Bank. Even though Maggie worked outside the home, she was primarily a devoted and faithful preacher’s wife. She taught Children’s Sunday school for years, but her love was going and serving the shut in’s of the church. Maggie also loved cooking, sewing, and watching her hummingbir­ds. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bro. Ollen Loven, two brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her son, Marshall Loven and wife Debbie of Red Hill, Texas; two daughters, Vicki Welsh and husband Jim of Australia, Debbie Tong and husband Steve of Atlanta, Texas; seven grandchild­ren, Marsha Hocutt and husband Mickey, Jessica Dalrymple and husband Brian, Melissa Kimble and husband Tommy, Grace Welsh, Alex Welsh, Ashley Hill and husband Joseph, Megan Farmer and husband Kevin; thirteen great grandchild­ren, and a number of nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

JAMES MASON

James Norman Mason, known to most as “Norm” passed away on December 3 from complicati­ons from an injury incurred on October 31st. Born November 29, 1939, the middle child of Norman Hugh and Ruby Burgess Mason, he graduated from Bradford High School in 1957 and went on to enlist in the Air Force in 1958. He served in Korea as an air traffic controller and began his lengthy broadcasti­ng career working at the radio station on base. After the military, he attended the Sarasota School of Broadcast Engineerin­g in Florida obtaining a degree in Broadcast Engineerin­g. Norm was well- known in the Broadcasti­ng industry throughout the Arkla-Tex area serving as a Consultant and Chief Engineer for multiple stations in the four states area. He later moved into station ownership where he impacted the careers of other broadcast hopefuls giving many their first opportunit­ies as on-air personalit­ies. Norm is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dean Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Katy Watson Mason; his sister, Louise Mason of Conway, Arkansas; Two daughters, Kelli Jones and husband Stuart Jones of The Colony, Texas, Kimberly Garrison and husband Michael of Midlothian, Texas; One step-daughter, Melissa Hicks of Texarkana; Grandchild­ren: Danielle Whaley, Miranda Etkind, Aliza Etkind, Samuel Etkind, Madalyn Gathright and Two great grandchild­ren: Emersyn and Breck Whaley.

Patricia Hammonds Marbut (Pat) of New Boston, TX passed away December 5, 2020 at her home. She was 77 years old.

Pat is survived by her husband of 60 years Little John, her daughter Gayla Jordan and fiancé Riley Carper, her son and daughter-in law Dan and Tonya Marbut. Grandchild­ren that help her whole heart Dayton Marbut, Taylor Marbut, Dani Jordan, Mason Marbut and Aydan Marbut and a beautiful great granddaugh­ter Hallie Marbut. Sister and brother-in-law Judy and Jerry Templeton of Hooks, Phil and Sherry Marbut of New Boston Texas, Chris Marbut of Texarkana and Marsha Marbut of Bossier City LA. A soul sister and lifelong best friend Sheryl Linthicum and her husband Ralph of Joshua TX and very special friend Gene Sosbee of Naples and numerous family and friends.

Pat held a deep love for life, family and friends, a passion for cooking and the biggest fan of Elvis. She was happiest when her house was full and she was cooking to feed. She answered to Nonna with love and pride to not only her Grandchild­ren but all their friends as well.

Lucy Pearl Capps Myers, age 88, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Plano, Texas. Lucy was born March 4, 1932 in Marietta, Texas to Amos Alonzo Capps and Maude Mae Hancock Capps.

Lucy was a member of New Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marietta. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, reading, working in her yard, and spending time with her family. Lucy also enjoyed cooking, and everyone loved her chocolate pies. Lucy was always willing to help anyone in the community or her family.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. “Chick” Myers; her parents; several brothers and sisters; and one great-grandson, Caleb Moses Dyess.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vicki Myers of Denton,

Texas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Schmidt of Marietta, Scarlet and Stacy Flanery of Maud, Texas, and Elizabeth and Rick Muscatel of Hurst, Texas; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Calvin Capps of Marietta, Buford Capps of Marietta, and Morris and Patsy Capps of Pittsburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Don Kelley of DeBerry, Texas and Peggy and Glenn Bellamy of Naples, Texas; seven grandchild­ren; eleven great-grandchild­ren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples with Ernesto Illingwort­h officiatin­g. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

MAXINE KENNEDY

Maxine Kennedy, 88, of Nash, Texas was born November 6, 1932 in Junction City, Arkansas to C.D. and Essie Godfrey . She transition­ed on December 3, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Kennedy became a member of the Leary Chapel Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas at an early age. She was once the Mission President and held many offices in the church. She was a neighborho­od mother to all. She served on the City Council of Nash for 14 years, as well as a term as Mayor Pro-tem.

Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bobby Godfrey, Robert L. Godfrey and Richard Godfrey; two sisters, Margaret Sharp and Marie Banks; grandson, Gregory Kennedy; and one granddaugh­ter, Tasha Renee Kennedy.

She leaves to mourn: her husband of 71 years, Robert Kennedy; her only son, Cedric Kennedy (Berneice); her six daughters, Diane Kennedy, Barbara Brooks (Bobby), DeLores “Pie” DeVose, Sherrilynn Jackson (Donald), Shelia Starks and Margaret Lewis; one loving brother, Tyrone Godfrey of Dallas, Texas; numerous grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, two great-great-grandchild­ren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

JAMES RHOADES

James Harmie Rhoades, age 97, of Wake Village, Texas, died Monday, December 7, 2020, in a local hospital.

M r . Rhoades was born at home in Franklin County, near Mt. Vernon, Texas and was proud to have played football for the Mt. Vernon Tigers. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and enjoyed time on his farm and raising cattle. Mr. Rhoades was a member of Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church and the Maud Masonic Lodge No. 859 for more than sixty-five years.

He and his wife, Irma Johnson Rhoades, were married on October 23, 1947, at Cleveland Street Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas and were married for seventywon­derful years.

Mr. Rhoades is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie T. Rhoades and Elsie Booth Rhoades, two brothers, Dennis Rhoades and Archie Rhoades and two sisters, Oleta Rhoades Floyd and Mattie Lou Rhoades Frerichs.

He is survived by his wife, Irma Rhoades of Wake Village, Texas; two daughters, Judy Westerman of Texarkana and Jane Bradshaw and her husband, Greg of Texarkana; one granddaugh­ter, Brandy Griffis; two great-granddaugh­ters, Brittny Pickens and husband Dakota, and Gracie Griffis; and one great-great-granddaugh­ter, Elizabeth Pickens.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Evans officiatin­g. Entombment will follow in the Bell Tower Mausoleum in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

Rebecca Evalyn Laufenburg­er 34, of Bloomburg, TX was born October 30, 1985 in Scottsdale, AZ. She passed on Sunday , October 25, 2020 at Christus St. Michael’s Health System, Texarkana, TX.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Jim Laufenburg­er, Mother, Leslie Powell and Brother, Glen Laufenburg­er.

CHARLIE HARRIS

Charlie R. Harris, age 85, of Linden, Texas went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 7, 2020, in an Atlanta, Texas hospital. Charlie was born June 30, 1935, in Linden, to J. R. ( Jim) and Charlie Mae Crow. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church and was owner/operator of Capitol Florist for over 25 years. Prior to owning Capitol Florist, Charlei worked at Benny’s Dress Shop as a sales consultant and buyer. She started working at Benny’s Dress Shop while still in high school. She graduated from Linden High School where she was active in the band. Charlie was drum major all four of her high school years. She loved and supported the Linden-Kildare Tigers all of her life.

Charlie’s love of music and performing carried over into her adult life. She loved and supported Music City Texas for many years. She volunteere­d as the door greeter. She loved to welcome everyone to Music City Texas and give them a big hug.

Charlie was a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a friend. The highlight of her day was spending time with friends and family. She truly never met a stranger. If you had a few minutes she would tell you all about Linden, the town she loved so much, and all about the wonderful people who lived there.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.R. (Jim) and Charlie Mae Crow; her son, Brad Harris; one grandson, James Reece Harris; one sister, Marsha Reece Crow; one sister-in-law, Pat Harris; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Harris and Neal Birmingham.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Kerlin Harris of Linden, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Bernadette Harris of Linden, Texas; one grandson, Brian Quaid and wife Jeanna of Sims, Texas; one great-granddaugh­ter, Jacee Quaid of Linden, Texas; one sister-inlaw, Joan and Bob McCord of Atlanta, Texas; one brother-in-law, James Harris of Linden, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

GLENN PARKS, JR.

It is with great sadness, that the family of Glenn A. Parks, Jr. of Lewisville, Arkansas announces his passing on Sunday , December 6, 2020. Born on October 28, 1940, he was the son of Glenn A. Parks Sr. and Delilah Powell Parks. He lived the majority of his life in Lewisville and Hope where he was beloved by all.

Glenn was a graduate of Harding University obtaining degrees in Theology and Foreign Language. In his early life, he pastored the Church of Christ in Kaufman, Texas. Upon his return to Arkansas, he worked for his father at Parks Products and later founded Parks Title Company.

He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved hunting, gardening, and nature. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn A. Parks, Sr., Delilah Powell Parks and sister Modena Parks Jester. He leaves behind one sister, Patricia Parks McClendon, and three children, Dr. Greta Parks, Lana Parks Davis, attorney, husband Gary Davis, Caleb Parks and wife, Suva Parks. He will be forever remembered by four grandchild­ren, Hilary Herndon, Samantha Davis Harrington, Caroline Parks, Olivia Parks, and four great-grandchild­ren, Parker and Penelope Chunn, Delilah Parks, and Judah Harrington.

His children wish to express their thanks and gratitude to Autumn Wind and Encompass Health for their care and compassion for their father during his final days. The family also extends a warm thank you to his friend and caregiver, Tony Peterson, among others.

A funeral service in memory of Glenn will be held on Thursday, December 10 at 2p.m. at the A.O. Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas, with Reverend Jamie Knighton officiatin­g. He will be laid to rest alongside his parents and family at the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Arkansas.

Edna Dale Davis Jackson of De Kalb, Texas passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 93.

Mrs. Jackson was born the twelfth of fourteen children on November 23, 1927 in De Kalb, Texas to John Henry Davis, Sr. and Georgia Pinkham Davis. She graduated from De Kalb High School in 1945. On December 24, 1945, she married Herman Lloyd Jackson. Mrs. Jackson was a retired General Supply Specialist for Red River Army Depot. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of De Kalb, Texas where she belonged to the Challenger­s Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Lloyd Jackson; five brothers, Travis Davis, G.F. Davis, Dewey Davis, John Davis, Jr., and Jamie Davis; seven sisters, Ruby Carlton, Ora Bishop, Audrey Dean, Edith Elkins, Christeen Payne, Jesteen Messick, and Vivian Miller.

Michael L. Newton left this home for a new and better one on December 8, 2020. He was affectiona­tely known as “the world’s greatest Pawpaw” and “Uncle Pawpaw” by his great nieces. He was an employee of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company and a devout Christian.

Born to George Everett Newton and Theresa Marie Sellers Newton on March 14, 1962 in Houston, Texas. He spent a lifetime of enjoying his favorite sport, baseball. He enjoyed his Houston Astros but cherished his baseball moments with his sons, leaving them with many great memories.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen Craig Newton.

Ted L. Fields, 73, of New Boston, Texas died Monday, December 7, 2020 in Hospice of Texarkana, Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Fields was born February 28, 1947 in New Boston to the parents of the late Odie B. and Pearlie Forte Fields. He was a graduate of Central High School and Prairie View A&M University where he was a member of the ROTC and Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. He received a Master’s Degree in Engineerin­g and a second Master’s Degree in Communicat­ions. He joined the Airforce after finishing college and served numerous tours in Germany and Korea. During his tours, he received a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do Karate and taught classes in the New Boston and surroundin­g area upon returning home. He was a former employee of Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and worked as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a life-long member of the Prosperity Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. David Hood where he served on the Trustee Board and the Usher Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife Tae Yon Fields, his parents and two brothers Odie Fields, Jr and Alvin Fields. Survivors include his son Kevin Daniel Fields (Lynette) of New Boston. His most precious moments were spent with his beloved grandchild­ren, Airman Bishop Fields of Sheppard Airforce Base, grandson Logan and twins Alexia and Olivia of New Boston. Other survivors are his sisters Johnie Ruth Fields of New Boston and Joyce Brown of Hooks, and one aunt Nina Faye Brown of Texarkana, TX and a number of other relatives and close friends.

On Wednesday, December 9th, Ray Ellis, 74, of Hooks, Texas, passed away.

Ray was born on September 5th, 1946 in Avery, Texas to Leonard and Virginia Ellis. On May 26th, 1967, he married Tena Moody, and they raised one son, Jason. After Tena’s death, Ray married Donna Hobbs on January 7th 1994. He had a strong work ethic and was always willing to work hard to be successful. After high school, he was a meat cutter and market manager. Ray was known for his efficiency and ability to make meat department­s more profitable. Eventually he purchased his first grocery store, and he worked long hours to make it prosperous. At the peak of his grocery career, Ray owned three stores. Before he retired, Ray purchased Mission Tortilla delivery routes and managed them with the help of his son.

He loved humor and always had silly responses available for almost any conversati­on. Ray was an excellent baseball player when he was young and he loved to watch the Yankees and White Sox play and often criticized the umpires when they didn’t favor his team. He also loved cheesy horror movies and Elvis Presley songs. Most of all, Ray loved his son, Jason, and dedicated his life to him.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Tena, his parents, Leonard and Virginia, his brother, Billy, and his sister, Joyce.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, his son, Jason, his brothers, Leon and Bobby, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
