Bowie County reports seven COVID-19 deaths in past week

TEXARKANA, Texas — The number of deaths among Bowie County, Texas, residents increased by seven over the past week, moving from 111 to 118 since Dec. 15, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Estimated active coronaviru­s cases in the county fell from 513 to 457 in that time, while cumulative confirmed cases rose from 2,680 to 2,777, according to TDSHS. There have been 3,087 recoveries in the county.

In Cass County, Texas, active cases fell from 93 to 56 since Dec. 15, while total confirmed cases increased from 814 to 838 and fatalities rose from 41 to 43. There have been 1,129 recoveries in the county.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Red River County’s case count rose from 253 to 276 in the past week, Morris County’s from 302 to 315 and Titus County’s from 1,917 to 1,925, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County’s active cases fell from 86 to 76 Thursday to Monday, with cumulative confirmed cases increasing from 1,761 to 1,787, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. Fatalities held at 17, and there have been 1,694 recoveries in the county.

From Thursday to Monday, Lafayette County’s case count rose from 236 to 311, Pike County’s from 461 to 566, Nevada County’s from 463 to 482, Little River County’s from 585 to 598, Howard County’s from 735 to 754, Hempstead County’s from 857 to 888 and Sevier County’s from 1,489 to 1,518, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish’s total case count increased from 15,768 to 16,240 Thursday to Monday, and Bossier Parish’s from 7,712 to 8,026, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 171,672 total confirmed cases and 3,295 total deaths Monday, Louisiana reported 287,261 cases and 7,107 deaths, and Texas reported 1,413,684 cases and 25,415 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 17,790,376 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 316,844.
