LAST WEEK: The Tigers’ season ended at 11-1 with a 62-42 loss to Crosby in a Class 5A, Division II area game.

OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS: QB Brayson McHenry completed 23-of 47 passes for 433 yards and four TDs, giving him 2,940 passing yards, 36 TDs and four intercepti­ons for his junior season. Daquarreon Witcher rushed 13 times for 55 yards and a score to complete his sophomore year with 93 rushes for 532 yards and seven TDs, and junior Braylon Stewart had 10 totes for 25 yards to finish with 156 carries for 1,151 yards and 12 scores.

Senior WR Rian Cellers had seven catches for 130 yards and a score to close out his campaign with 50 grabs for 1,112 yards and 15 TDs, and senior TE Caden Miller had nine grabs for 173 yards and a TD, giving him 39 receptions, 657 yards and six scores. WR Tre Roberts had two catches for 61 yards and a score to finish with 23 grabs, 362 yards and four TDs, Clayton Smith rushed for a TD and caught another, giving him six TD receptions, and Blake Rogers completed his junior year with 28 catches for 424 yards and five scores.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS:

LBs Jackson Halter and Javarous Tyson, DT Jaylen Green and DB Darrin Finley each had five tackles. Tyson recovered a fumble, and Green caused two fumbles. DB Jalen Jones forced and recovered a fumble, DE Derrick Brown had four tackles, including a sack, and CB Lajontae Wrightner also had four stops — all solos — and deflected a pass. S Caleb Arnold intercepte­d a pass.

COACH GERRY STANFORD’S COMMENTS:

“There was a lot of fight in this team; they didn’t want to see this season end and they didn’t want it to come to an end. They kept fighting, fighting and fighting the whole game. They gave us a chance and kept playing at a high level, as much as they could to get as much as they could out of this game and season.”
