L-EISD explores upgrading facilities
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Liberty-Eylau Independent School District will look to identify needs for improvement and upgrades among school facilities with a series of facilities meetings, the first one being today.
“Basically, it’s the start of a series of meetings looking at current facilities and working on a plan for the future, be that upgrades, construction, remodels etc.,” said Director of Communications Matt Fry.
Fry said at the meeting, the district will look over a comprehensive facilities review they performed last summer, outlining key needs on different campuses, then will host a tour of the high school campus.
There will be a follow-up meeting at the middle school next month with the goal of prioritizing needs and looking at how best to address them.
Fry said there are no concrete plans in place at the moment, as this is a proactive approach to facility management, but he did mention a few items on the docket that could be addressed.
“I know we need to address some classroom spaces at the high school,” he said. “That may be via remodel or new construction, but it is really early to know for sure what that will be. Then there are some cosmetic things at the middle school and early childhood center we want to address. But that is just from our administrative perspective.” Fry said he and the district hope to have plenty of input and engagement from the surrounding community as to what projects they would like to see started.
“Our schools are a point of pride for the entire Liberty-Eylau community,” he said. “It is important to us to have input from everyone to help make our schools the best they can be for current and future Leopards.”
(The first meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m, at the high school.)
