Four COVID-19 deaths in past week in Bowie County

Bowie County, Texas, reported four deaths because of COVID-19 since Feb. 12, bringing the county’s death toll to 171, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The county’s number of confirmed coronaviru­s cases rose by almost 100 in that time, from 4,409 to 4,502, while active cases increased from 535 to 559. There have been 5,663 recoveries in the county.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas in the past week, Red River County’s confirmed case count increased from 382 to 386, Morris County’s from 545 to 556, Cass County’s from 1,083 to 1,103 and Titus County’s from 2,594 to 2,624, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County’s active case count fell from 65 to 34 since Feb. 12, while total cases rose from 2,448 to 2,477, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. There have been 20 COVID-19 deaths and 2,423 recoveries in the county.

Lafayette County’s total case count increased from 344 to 347, Nevada County’s from 614 to 620, Pike County’s from 713 to 724, Little River County’s from 838 to 844, Howard County’s from 973 to 982, Hempstead County’s from 1,348 to 1,359 and Sevier County’s from 1,717 to 1,737, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana over the last week, Caddo Parish’s case count increased from 24,245 to 24,407 and Bossier Parish’s from 12,702 to 12,842, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 248,996 confirmed cases and 5,323 deaths on Thursday, Louisiana reported 421,846 cases and 9,406 deaths, and Texas reported 2,234,506 cases and 40,814 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported 27,669,556 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 489,067.
