L-E’s Norris continues to lead for Leopards

TEXARKANA, Texas — Liberty-Eylau senior Tamara Norris has been a mainstay for the Lady Leopards athletic program for the past few years.

Norris is a three-year letterman in both basketball and volleyball for the Leopards.

“My time at L-E has been up and down a little bit,” Norris said. “Last year was very promising, then COVID happened. I was really looking forward to my spring seasons last year. There’s been times I’ve been really high and there’s been times I’ve been low.

“I have my friends and teammates there to help me get through whatever I’m going through.”

Norris also plans to major in nursing when she attends college next year.

“I have a few options on where I’m going. I just haven’t made up my mind yet,” Norris said. “Since I’ll be in nursing school, I have the option between a a two-year program and a four-year program. I’m going to have to make a decision sometime soon.”

Norris’ favorite subject at L-EHS is Sports Medicine.

“After basketball, hopefully we’ll go pretty far with track and field,” Norris said. “I’m expecting a big year this year on the track, so I’m excited for that. I’m trying to go out with a bang.”

Norris will be back in the area round for the Leopards, when L-E takes on Brownsboro.

“It’s super exciting being in the playoffs but it’s also scary because I don’t know if it’s my last game,” Norris said. “I feel like we’re all ready for the moment when it’s over, but that’s something I can’t be ready for.

“It gives me the drive to go harder for my teammates, knowing that this may be the last time we all play with one another.”
