Winter storm stamps out mail delivery here

TEXARKANA — Texarkana’s mail delivery was a no go this week with so much snow.
“Our transportation is hampered because of the current road conditions. Once those road conditions improve, we are back on track,” Carol Hunt of the United States Postal Service told the Gazette Friday.
When asked when the roads would be permissible for USPS to deliver mail, Hunt said the USPS was not the road department and she did not have that information.
Last Monday was President’s Day, a federal holiday, which means mail was not delivered.
The remainder of the week brought deepening snow to Texarkana and no residential mail delivery as of Friday.
However, Hunt said Oaklawn Post Office was open for retail operations on Friday but Downtown Post Office closed.
The USPS webpage also shows Hope and Douglassville post offices in Arkansas are closed until further notice.
Other delivery services
Federal Express and United Parcel Service are also experiencing delays in service.

The UPS website includes a similar statement noting that natural disasters and bad weather may disrupt service.
“Significant weather events across the U.S. are impacting the UPS network. Although your location may not be impacted by weather, the movement of packages in the network may be impacted by weather conditions in other areas. Contingency plans are in place and UPS is working to move shipments to their final destinations as quickly as conditions permit.
