Many local restaurants are well-stocked and serving

TEXARKANA — As Texarkana emerges from the white stuff that buried it this week, so are its eating establishments.

Things are cooking again. While some local restaurants remained closed, many have opened and welcomed back diners. And while moving goods through the winter storm proved challenging earlier this week, several restaurant owners said Friday they did not anticipate supply issues.

“Things are a little crazy right now, but we are good so far,” said Eufemio Perez, managing partner of Ironwood Grill, 4312 Galleria Oaks Drive. “This is not a big deal. Our supply truck came and another is expected tomorrow. No reason to believe supply issues are coming for us.

Pecan Point Point Gastropub and Brewery in downtown Texarkana has also opened its doors.

“Our supplies look good through the weekend,” said owner Bill Scurlock. “We are expecting our resupply early next week. Our kitchen and pantry have everything we need for the next several days.”

Jason K. Williams of Benchmark American Brasserie says his situation is also good.

“We will be open our usual hours this weekend,” he said Friday. “Reservations are pouring in and I advise our customers to do that because folks are coming in and fast. I do lots of local shopping for our kitchen supplies and we’ve been able to get what we need.”

But some restaurants have had to make adjustments. For example, Old Tyme Burger Shoppe, 1205 Arkansas Boulevard, announced Friday that it may have to limit its menu due to supply concerns and its owner’s commitment to making everything fresh. It was only operated its drive-through on Friday, according to an announcement that day on Facebook.
