Perot keeps social distancing, eliminates mask requirement
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council will continue social distancing at the Perot Theatre, but mask wearing by the general public will not be required.
The decision was made in response to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement to reopen Texas businesses and lift the mask mandate effective March 10. The decision also applies to the Regional Arts Center and Arts on Main.
“Overall safety of our staff and general public is of the utmost importance to TRAHC, Inc./P.T.M.C. (Perot Theatre Management Company), while still providing entertainment and cultural development opportunities in premier facilities for our community,” TRAHC announced Friday in a news release.
Frequently touched surfaces will be sanitized with handwashing encouraged. Following the current Centers for Disease Control guidelines is highly encouraged, in addition to mask wearing. However, TRAHC will not require the public to wear masks.
TRAHC senior staff, board president, and designated board members met recently to discuss current protocols and potential impacts of the upcoming changes to public facilities and events managed by the organization.
Masks will still be available upon entry of any building managed by TRAHC. Hand sanitizing stations are placed in high-traffic areas of the buildings.
“We will continue to watch Covid numbers in our area, evaluate patron and attendee responses and modify policies as guidelines are updated to ensure safety compliance and continued community support,” the arts agency said.
