Texas High places second to Longview in Lobo Relays

LONGVIEW, Texas — Longview scored more than 200 points in all three divisions Friday as the hosts ran away with the championship in the annual Lobo Relays.

Texas High was second in each varsity division at Lobo Stadium. The Lobos won the boys title with 226 points and the Tigers were second with 133.5. The Lady Lobos won the girls’ class with 203 points and Texas High was runner-up with 91.

Longview made it a clean sweep by winning the JV boys with 209 points, followed by Longview Green with 153 and Texas High with 136.

The Tigers’ Evan Likins was a double winner, capturing top honors in the 400 meters (53.53) and 800 meters (2:09.74). Eli Likins was third in the 800 (2:11.31) and third in the 1600 (5:03.98).

Caden Miller broke the tape in the 110 hurdles (16:07) and second in the 300 hurdles (41.47).

Texas High was second in the 4x100 relay with a 44.14 clocking. Team members were Jalen Jones, Gavon Smith, Tre Roberts and Chandlor Wright. That same foursome was third in the 4x200 relay (1:33.07).

In the field events, Tiger Christon Surratt won the discus with a throw of 1180.

The Lady Tigers finished 2-3 in the 400, with Gabrielle Lollis taking second (1:04.48) and Britney Ankkton third in (1:05.33). Fezeka Barnes took first in the 800 (2:35.23) and Ankkton was runner-up in 2:35.85.

Brittany Buendia placed second in the 3200 (14:20.78) and Daniela Urieta third in 14:41.98.

THS’ Bobbi Hatchett captured first in the 110 hurdles (16.53) and Cashlin Gooden was third in 17.47. Gooden crossed the finish line first in the 300 hurdles (48.70).

The Lady Tigers were second in all three relays. The team of Hatchett, Daniyah Anderson, J’Miah Carson and Valeria Perez were timed in 51:29 in the 4x100; Anderson, Barnes, Carson and Perez were second in the 4x200 in 1:49.20; and the foursome of Barnes, Alexia Edwards, Gooden and Perez were runner-up in the 4x400 in 4:11.53.

In the field events, Texas High’s Mariza Paez was first (37-4 1/2) and Mollie Johnson third in the shot (33-2); Edwards was second with a leap of 16-3 in the long jump; Paez placed second in the discus (9210) and Mollie Johnson third (88-5); Ashlyn Stiger was third in the triple jump (33-7); and Barnes first in the high jump (4-10) and Hollan Palmore third (4-8).
