Officials: 3 COVID-19 deaths over weekend in Bowie County

TEXARKANA, Texas — Bowie County, Texas, reported three additional deaths because of COVID-19 from Thursday to Monday, bringing the county’s death toll to 198, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Active COVID-19 cases in Bowie County decreased by 22 in that time, falling from 452 to 430, while cumulative confirmed cases rose from 4,630 to 4,643. There have been an estimated 6,133 recoveries in the county.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Morris County’s total case count held at 569 Thursday to Monday, according to TDSHS. Red River County’s increased from 400 to 401, Cass County’s from 1,140 to 1,141 and Titus County’s from 2,679 to 2,681.

Active cases in Miller County, Arkansas, rose from 28 to 30, while total confirmed cases increased from 2,617 to 2,624, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. There have been 21 deaths because of COVID19 in the county and 2,573 recoveries.

From Thursday to Monday in Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County’s total case count held at 375, Pike County’s at 760 and Howard County’s at 1,028, according to ADH. Nevada County’s increased from 651 to 653, Little River County’s from 879 to 880 and Hempstead County’s from 1,445 to 1,450. Sevier County’s was adjusted downward from 1,776 to 1,774.

In Northwest Louisiana from Thursday to Monday, Caddo Parish’s case count increased from 24,981 to 25,017 and Bossier Parish’s from 13,171 to 13,192, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 258,264 confirmed cases and 5,544 deaths on Monday, Louisiana reported 441,066 cases and 10,030 deaths, and Texas reported 2,368,222 cases and 46,478 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 29,652,483 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 539,517.
