Baseball JB’s DeBerry tosses no-hitter
McLEOD, Texas — James Bowie’s Zane DeBerry was brilliant on the hill on Friday, as DeBerry threw a no-hitter to lead the Pirates past McLeod, 1-0, in varsity baseball action.
The pitching was strong on both sides. DeBerry struck out nine, while the Longhorns pitchers sat down five.
DeBerry surrendered zero runs on zero hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.
The Pirates managed five hits and only one run off the McLeod pitcher, who also went the distance.
Garrett Brown and Whitt Rogers had two hits each to pace James Bowie.
The Pirates’ defense also supported DeBerry’s pitching by playing errorless ball in the field.
