Leopards hold off North Lamar, 7-6

TEXARKANA, Texas — Liberty-Eylau pitcher Nate Moore gave up a run in two innings of relief, but he shut down North Lamar’s rally in the seventh as the Leopards defeated the Panthers, 7-6, in District 15-4A varsity baseball action Friday night on L-E’s diamond.

Liberty-Eylau took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth before North Lamar rallied to pull within a run, 7-6, in the seventh. The run off Moore was unearned. He got the final outs and the victory. Moore surrendere­d six hits, struck out seven and walked two. Parker Goodman was the Leopards’ starter, allowing five runs (four earned) in four innings. He fanned six and walked two.

Moore aided his cause with two hits, including a double, to knocked in three runs. Hunter Burks and Ron Garza added two hits and an RBI each for the Leopards, who had seven hits in the game. Courtesy runner Krayson Battle also scored three runs.

The Leopards left 11 runners on base and the Panthers eight.

Rivercrest 15, Linden-Kildare 4

LINDEN, Texas — Rivercrest rode a 15-hit assault to a 15-4 victory over LindenKild­are in varsity baseball action at the Tigers’ Jim Grubbs Field.

Rivercrest led 4-2 after four innings before erupting or seven runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. The game was shortened one inning by the 10-run mercy rule.

The Tigers (9-4) managed eight hits in six innings off Rebel starting and winning pitcher Will Grider. Grider struck out eight an walked one. L-K starter and loser Trey Phillips (2-1) went four innings, fanning two and walking one.

Hunter Crenshaw, Colt Neville and Kyler Fitts had two hits each for the Tigers, with Neville driving in a run. Jackson Lee and Mason Johnson added a hit apiece, and Lee scored twice for L-K. Crenshaw and Lee’s hits were doubles.

Brandon Madkin belted a 2-run homer and John Grider had a triple and double to pace Rivercrest.
