TEXARKANA, Texas – When Gail and Ed Eichler lost their son, Clay, they started a charity seven years ago that would generate money for local charities in his name. Called “Clay’s Golf and Guitars,” this event usually involves golf, as the name indicates. This year, Saturday evening’s attractions included a Journey cover banned, called “Escape,” named after one of the original band’s albums. They hail from Los Angeles, California.

“You should see them,” said Gail Eichler. “Their lead singer is almost a dead ringer for Steve Perry. They’re really nice guys, too.”

Almost 140 golfers hit the links earlier that day at Northridge Country Club, wrapping up the games around 3 pm. Between the golfing and the concert, along with a raffle around the event, they managed to net $170,000 for Haven Homes.

“This was our seventh Clay’s Golf and Guitars,” said Gail Eichler. “We love golf and we love music and that has been the general theme of this event. This is our seventh of these and we plan on doing it again next year as well at Northridge Country Club. Also, this event bring the total this charity has managed to raise to just over $1 million. A million thanks, a million blessings.”
