TISD Board to talk relief funding
The Texarkana Independent School District Board of Trustees will hear reports on and look to approve a resolution regarding Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief III funding in a regular meeting this morning.
The board will start the open session by hearing Superintendent Dr. Doug Brubaker’s information items, which include an ESSER III funding update.
Effective in late April, districts and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas were made eligible to apply to receive their allocation of the $11.2 billion appropriated to the State of Texas for public education purposes under the American Rescue Plan Act through the ESSER III Fund.
After this update, personnel items and proposed approvals will be considered.
Notable proposals include the declaration of surplus items, charter buses for fall 2021 travel, district-wide pavement rehabilitation, student accident and catastrophic insurance and educational professional development.
The board will also consider approving nutrition contracts between the community services of Northeast Texas, Inc. Head Start Program and TISD for 2021-2022.
There will be consideration for approval of an ESSER Federal Grant Funding Authority, as well as a resolution of the board regarding ESSER III and state and federal revenue services.
Action/discussion items for consideration are as follows:
■ Approval of monthly financial report
■ Approval of expenditures
■ Approval of Second Reading of budget for fiscal year 2021-2022
■ Approval of appointment to the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Advisory Board, City of Texarkana
■ Approval of modifying mask policy under TEA Public Health Guidance
■ Approval of Resolution for purchase of property at 2208 Kennedy Lane
Facility assessment information will then be reviewed before adjournment.
